This may seem cliché, but hear me out. I'm entering high school next year. What should I expect? Is it time to crack down on the hard work and leave my social life behind? Or will I be constantly getting wasted by senior year? Got any tips? Thanks in advance!

Just ignore everyone and do whatever you want to do. All high school contains is a bunch of idiots who think they have to be part of a trend to be popular.

Learn how to juggle schoolwork and a social life and you'll be golden.

It really depends on your school. For me, I've got a rather lame, standard approach. I'm friends with most people, definitly not enemies with anyone. I'm sure I could find myself wasted at any given moment, but I've not tried yet for some reason. Still don't have to study too much, but more than nothing is recommended.

And no, there's no Freshman Friday.

Remember this young friend. Having a girlfriend may be great and a big social icon, but never let her get in the way of your GOOD friends. Mind you I'm not talking about people you drink with but people you've known forever. So pay heed and listen to someone who went through it, always cherish your friends, because women, both young and old, will come and go.

Don't buy into the whole "SENIORS BEAT UP FRESHMAN OMG" bullshit, because frankly, seeing a pack of Freshman is just as common in High School as seeing a herd of cows as it is in Wisconsin.

And frankly, us upperclassman like to keep you Freshman as pets. I have a pet Freshman, and his name is Karl. He is a wonderful little fellow.

You'll be fine.

I'm entering my senior year now. Honestly, it's not "exciting" but I certainly enjoyed it. The main thing to do is to find your group of friends, and stick with them, as you'll want to try and be part of every "group" of high school, it'll be better to stick with the few good friends rather than stick with a whole bunch of jackasses, which most high schoolers are.

If anything, just be yourself, and high school-well may not be as great or terrible as displayed in movies- and you'll have an enjoyable four years.

I was an outsider in high school. I was in band for three years before i quit for various reasons. Really wish i hadn't :(

I only had a few friends and in the morning we usually sat pretty far from everybody else.

I look back and realise i made the mistake of having a terrible outlook which made my years worse. All in all high school was meh but if asked a year or two ago i would say differently.

It's horrible. I'm going in to my final year in September, and it's been a nightmare all the way through. I've learned nothing of value. It's just something that you have to put up with.

I'm going to be a junior next year, so, here's my advice.

Get some fucking friends. Don't be an anti-social, sarcastic, smug, miserable little pile of secrets with a superiority complex who may or may not be dead on the inside. We don't need two of me in the universe.

On a slightly related note, while I haven't been in a relationship, I can give you one word of advice for when you are: Condom.

you are a young-un', listen carefully, do what you have to keep your grades up, it can be hard the first year, just learn to manage it... make sure any girls you go out with aren't insane, but realize that even if you don't think so at the time, they will show theyre true colors. That, and don't party... just don't, well, just don't get wasted and high and crap... at least not 'till junior year, you need to get your bearing before you do crazy shit like that.

High school in the U.S. generally starts at 14, ends at 18 after four years. I didn't particularly enjoy high school, college is much more interesting. Always use a condom*. Also, go watch The Breakfast Club if you haven't already.

My first two years were hell.
But that's mostly because i was a weird little kid and brought it on myself.

Last two years were all right.
I mellowed out and found some friends.

Expect Jerks, Deadlines, large amounts of Responsibility, Pressure, and lack of time.
But as long as you Try and don't give up you should be fine.
