I actually did some thinking before I posted this, and after some research I decided I would seriously punch oblivion in its face if it tried to take my son from me. I would.

Also, after some (unbelievably) light research the date is apparently December 21 which happens to be my wife's birthday. Fun times to be had.

I'm just glad I won't have to outlive anymore of my loved ones, watching them die is so cruel.

Of course I would mind if the world ended. I've been going through all kinds of hell in school, I wouldn't want it to all be for naught! Oh yeah, and everyone dying would suck.

Plus, I have proof that it will actually end on January 6th, 2012, which is coincidentally the arrival date of a shipment of plutonium if you were to place the order last Thursday.

People say I'm crazy, that it won't end. I'll show them. I'll show them all!

Yes I care if the world ends from some bullshit such as this! The only way I want this world to end is with me reaching Godhood and being the catalyst of destruction!

Life... Dreams... Hope... Where do they come from? And where do they go...? Such meaningless things... I'LL DESTROY THEM ALL! [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyZoe-r9qb0]

I'll most likely be dead or in a heavily defended outpost, so I could careless. Hoping on the former though.

I still want to see how Negima! ends, Fate of the Jedi ends, Dragon Age ends, Half-Life ends, Naruto ends, Kingdom Hearts ends, Alan Wake ends, and Nazi zombies ends. I'm sure there are other things that I want to see to their conclusion--or their beginning, so I would like the world to keep going. Improve, but keep going. However, I promised God that, should I live to see the final Star Wars movie, that I could die walking out of the theater and I wouldn't complain. So there's that.

If it *was* ending I'd want it carry on as I don't want to die nor do I want the people I love to die.

On the flip side, remove all emotions, the world would benefit from human extinction as a species we cause more harm than good. The internet is a good example of the dark side of humanity sans real world political troubles.

Don't care. What happens will happen. Though I will say that I would like a change of pace, I so clearly failing at the current system.

Welp, I would care a lot if the world WAS going to end, but good thing it won't next year. But, if it did, there would be a lot of FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Some other guy used the bible to predict May 21, 2011 to be when the world will end. So I guess I am ambivalent.
Nah, we're all dying in October. May 21st is the day of judgment. I guess it is going to take God awhile to judge 7 billion people.

Secretly, I want the Messiah to come only because that seems WAY more entertaining than all other possibilities (minus aliens... but are aliens and Messiah exclusive xD? Even better)

You forgot one very important voting choice.

"You only care because it means all the dumb asses that thought it was gonna happen were right."

I believe entirely that the world will not end. I just worry that a bunch of stupid people may overreact and feel that on the last day they should do whatever they feel like. I don't know, arson, a killing spree.

The whole mayan calander thing is completely blown out of proportion. The end of a calender... ooooh! Scary. You know what is even scarier? The fact they have another one continuing after it. What? You mean the end of a calander (could be considered the end of an 'era' I've heard) doesn't mean the end of the world? Time goes on?

wooooooooooooooooooow.

By the way, the original team working on Duke Nukem Forever was probably banking on this concept. "Its ok, we'll release the game in 2013, but don't worry... it'll be awesome. Hey, throw me a beer, I'm 'working.'
I kid, I kid.

But yes, if I was given the choice, I would have the world keep going. If the world was destroyed, where would I spend all my free time and you know, enjoy my life?

Not gonna happen...but this is not a debate on legitimacy sooo:

I wouldn't want it to end, but presumably there's nothing I could do about it. I imagine there'd be a period of panic, but afterwards I'd just drop every long-term thing I've been working on and just live it up. Get some hardcore-dreamtime going...since that's a far more efficient use of my time if nothing I do will matter beyond a year.

The world will not end.

Humanity's greed, hatred, ignorance and apathy will wipe us all out loooooooooooong before the Earth goes *HURK* *BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooom*

In either case:

<spoiler=I'm with Charmander>
I now have a new favorite picture :D

OT: Well...yeah, obviously I'd care. There's still a lot left to do in life...graduate, marriage, family, indie game development on the side. Books to read, movies to watch, songs to hear, games to experience, places to see. I'm not ready for death quite yet. Besides, who wants to live to see everything die...I'd rather that not happen in my lifetime. So, yeah, I'd care.

Of course, the Mayan thing is a load of crap, so there's nothing to worry about there. Unless some nutjobs go on an appocolypse rampage or something...

I want it to go on. It's pretty corrupt/messed up, but for all that, civilisation is the best thing we have.

Not to mention the billions of deaths it might cause :p

There would be little I could do to stop it if it were indeed prophesied as such, so I don't know how I would be expected to care. What use would getting worked up do?

Were it the case, bummer, too bad and all that, but you can't stop the mad march of time or inevitability.
