Poll: Poll Is your room Kinect compatible

Ok there are lots of threads detailing the stupid that is the xbox one but one thing got me thinking. That it has to have a Kinect thing.

Thing is I have a Kinect (it came with my console) but I've never even plugged it in. I do have a lounge but my xbox ain't in it. It's in my room sharing the Tv with my computer with uses the Telly as a second monitor all sitting on a desk that faces onto my bed.

There is no bloody way the Kinect works with that set up and if the kinect for the Xbone is even vaguely similar it would mean that the xbone is utterly incompatible with my bloody room.

So even if I did want one (which I really don't) there is a good chance it won't be able to work because of my room set up.

So how many of my fellow escapists out there can actually set up a Kinect an who can't?

The Xbox One seems to be marketed solely to people with huge mansions and more money than sense.

No. Neither my lounge room, nor my study, are able to accommodate the minimum 2 square-meter of free space requirement. Even if I move my coffee table, I'd have to move my couch, my arm chair and my recliner.

Yes and no, yes my living room is has enough free space but no because my Xbox isn't in there. None of my consoles are, my Xbox 360 is in my study/computer room next to the desk and connected to the same monitor I use for my PC. I like to sit comfy on my office chair to play games so I play the Xbox pretty much the same way I do my PC games, I never feel comfortable sitting far away from the screen to play. Any potential new Xbox would go in the same place as the 360, as the Kinect is mandatory and the developers will be forced to use it this reduces the odds of there being a next Xbox to almost zero.

The living room is the only place Kinect would work and as well as being uncomfortable I would have to rearrange the room too, its an odd shape and kinda long and narrow with it being almost three times longer than it is wide. "My" chair that I would sit on to play games isn't quite dead square to the TV and is about 10 feet away from it, I simply don't like being that far away to play games and as it isn't square anyway it would have to be moved.

There are a number of reasons I don't want an Xbone but the Kinect is one of the main ones.

It's probably technically big enough, but considering my bed is directly in front of my television, no. It's barely Wii compatible at the moment. I like to relax while playing games most of the time I guess.

I don't own the original Kinect and I assume the new Kinect will be friendlier to smaller rooms since the camera is so much more...thorough? Effective? Horrifying. Anyway, the way my room is set up I sincerely doubt it. For one thing, I'm about 4 or 5 feet from my TV...maybe...I suck at guessing distance. Anyway, I sit at an angle that makes me look up at my TV which probably wouldn't be a problem were it not for my foot-rest thing which is a bit too cumbersome to move away from the TV. There there's a dresser directly to the left of the dresser that my TV is on so there's another difficult to move thing obstructing the view of the Orwellian, Demon-eye.

I don't own a Kinect. I am not going to buy a Kinect; Gunstringer is the only thing that really peaked my interest and no console is worth one game. Since the XBone mandates that I absolutely must use the Kinect2.0, I will simply not get the new entertainment hub.

In all honesty I'm morbidly curious about Kinect Steel Battalion. For the same reason that I was curious about Sonic 06. I love Sonic 06 but unlike Steel Battalion Kinect you can control Sonic 06 (but not when you're snowboarding in White Acropolis).

My rooms pretty big compared to most, I must admit. But I'll guess lots of peoples rooms are big enough, but they just don't own a Kinect.

Where I'm living right now? Probably. The dorm room I'll be living in in a couple of months? Almost certainly not. That said, I've never actually tried, and I'm almost certain I never actually will.

I sit in a huge arm chair that is little more than a metre from my TV, and I like to have my feet up while I play. Kinect and I would not get along.

If I put my TV and the Kinect front of my wardrobe and the diagonally go behind my desk then yes, between my Electric organs and desktop.
Otherwise, no fucking change. Also this would mean the desktop that is part of my wall has to be removed so I have more than doorframe's worth of space to move.

I thought the ps4 was a bad presentation but after see the xbox one I can confidently say the generation of gaming is not for me. I may just become a PC Gamer.

My room is big enough, if I remove my bed, desk and chair, sure. Probably the same for a lot of people.

If my living room was rearranged I could use Kinect in there, but the way the furniture and television are set up, I'd be too close to the screen. Not that my Xbox was in that room when I had one.

Then again, I do not have any interest in Kinect anyway. I have had fun using it round friends houses, but it's like most party games where I'd never play them by myself.

Ah...thanks, I wasn't able to visualize what I was needing. I guess maybe, but I'd have to do some rearranging of layout and furniture and what not.

Beyond that, I still haven't seen anything that makes me want this device beyond being a novelty. Add the vaguely creepy it's-always-watching-you vibe and I'm just not that excited about the thing.
