Poll: Poll: Mortal Kombat!

I have been playing the new Mortal Kombat and it is surprisingly my favorite fighting game ever. Also, it's popularity is quite surprising at my local High School. So what do the Escapists think of this new game?

I only rented it and what I enjoyed the majority of it, but some of the fights were INFURIATING. But that's just something that happens to me when I play any fighting game so I don't really blame it that much.

I love it, even though it makes me mad because I'm so bad at it.

The story mode is really hard for me, even on normal it takes me 4 or 5 tries to beat a lot of the characters, especially those damn 1 v 2 fights.

I voted "Rather Enjoyable" but I find it VERY enjoyable, and I'm not a fighting game fan. For me, it's about as good as fighting games get. It's stylish and lot's of fun, not high art but great at parties.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "amazing" (too many frustration factors in the AI for me), but it is easily the best Mortal Kombat game since UMK3, and I think the rights to Mortal Kombat ending up in Warner Bros.' hands is going to save the series. I am looking forward to the next game in the series, and it's been a while since I could say that about Mortal Kombat.

I like it. It is the best fighting game that I have ever played, although I don't have that many. It is also REALLY hard, mostly because I suck. I am still having a lot of fun with it though. I would probably play it a lot more if it wasn't for that stupid jump-scaring monster in the krypt.

It's a solid casual fighter. It doesn't hold a candle to a Capcom fighter in complexity though. I don't think it will catch on with the tournament crowd when SSF4 AE and MvC3 are out there.

Shao Khan is the worst boss ever in a fighting game, hands down.

I honestly love Mortal Kombat. Good Solid controls and very nice visuals. But my God the AI is infuriating some times. In the arcade ladder Shang Tsuang is the most annoying asshole EVER.

I'd say it's rather enjoyable, the best MK since UMK3/MKT.

However one of the major problems I have with the game is the blood.
It looks so 'off' - there's just something about the splatter that takes me out of the game sometimes.

Complexity isn't entirely needed for competition. Tekken 6 has tournaments alongside SSF4, and it's nowhere near as good. I think this is the first MK that can be added to the hardcore crowd for fighters. Up until this one, the actual fight before a fatality wasn't enjoyable. Now it is!
