With how increasingly health conscious people seem to becoming these days, I want to ask how many of us still drink pop / soda and how often. Whether or not you only drink a specific brand or not is irrelevant for the poll itself, though feel free to talk about that in the comments. Energy drinks also don't count, if for whatever reason you think they do. As usual, keep civil and explain your opinions if you post. Can't think of a way to wrap this up again, so let's just get lazy and say GO!

Captcha: "ask questions" Pretty much sums up these polls in general, doesn't it? XD

Back in my college days, I used to drink approx. 3-6 cans of pop per day (or fountain drink equivalent in the dining hall). I weighed 245 pounds at my largest.

Three years or so ago, I cut that down to about two cans of pop a day. I weighed about 230 pounds

A year ago, I cut it down to one can of pop a day. Combined with exercise, I currently weigh 205 pounds.

I am right now working on cutting pop out almost completely (I figure I'll be a "social drinker" where I can have a pop at parties/movies/whatnot) because I'm hoping to drop even more weight.

Anyone seeing a pattern here? :)

I very rarely drink soft drinks, if I do, it's usually with alcohol.

I was never allowed to drink them when I was younger so I never really developed a taste for them, they're just too sugary and sickly. I swear I can actually feel my teeth eroding when I do have one, I definitely couldn't drink them regularly.

The only drinks I have regularly anymore, apart from alcohol, are water and unsweetened coffee.
I'm so lame.

I drink quite a lot of fizzy drinks, usually cloudy lemonade at the moment, but only ever the sugar-free versions. The last time I had a "full fat", sugary fizzy drink was probably as a mixer at someone else's house. I don't see the point in wasting good calories on a drink when I could be eating delicious food :p

In all seriousness, the reason I drink it so much is because I'm on medication that makes me extremely thirsty most of the time, so I get through a LOT of fluids each day and plain water gets boring after a while (though nothing beats it when you're really thirsty, like after exercise).

This ^

I absolutely despise coca cola but put it in some rum, vodka or JD and I like it. However I tend to drink mostly vodka red bulls now (yes im a classy guy =P)

I tend to reach for an energy drink if im desperate rather than a can of pop but in general I drink this stuff

Fresh, concentrate, pulp or no pulp this stuff is amazing. Its smooth, refreshing and sweet but it doesnt leave you with that synthetic sticky sugary taste. I drink gallons of this stuff a week (literally)

Never.

They all taste gross. I much prefer tea, water or fruit juices (though the latter are not especially healthier than fizzy drinks, I admit).

Always.

I'm drinking some cola right now. :D

*sip*

I'm almost an addict, the only time I don't drink cola is when I'm ill, 'cause then it burns my throat.

When I was younger, I would drink an average of 30 cans of soda each week.

Then I got older and discovered the wonders and joys of acid reflux.

Now I drink maybe 2-3 per week, sometimes less.

I think this is not entirely true and I get it all the time because of the amount of fruit juice I drink. Yes they do contain similar levels of sugar but the human body needs sugar (granted not in high doses). Fruit juices will contain natural sugars from the fruit whereas soda pop contains processed refined sugar amongst a load of other nasty stuff. While the natural sugars arent exactly good for you its a damn sight better than drinking a biohazard that is coca cola not to mention diet drinks are worse, the sugar replacements can be really unhealthy

Cherry Coke, almost constantly. I would drink more water but tap water tastes disgusting at room temp but I'd forget about it if I put ice and and then it "sweats" everywhere.

Somehow or other I'm not fat. Maybe it's 'cause I go walking for a couple hours each week.

I'm not going to enter into a debate about this, as I don't know anywhere near enough about the health benefits of fructose as opposed to sucrose, or whatever. I will say that I have always been warned away from drinking much fruit juice as there are very few benefits I could not get elsewhere (such as eating the fruit in question instead). For me, fruit juice is a treat, it's too expensive to drink it every day anyway.

I used to drink liters and liters of the stuff, especially during a phase where I was unemployed and player a lot of roleplaying games, pen and paper, often as the game master. Would buy 6 packs of 1.5 liter bottles for the long gaming sessions(cola of course... caffiene!)

These days it's only on occasion, when I eat out. I never buy for consumption at home anymore. If I want some caffiene I've got coffee and tea at home, though mostly I drink naturally uncaffienated red tea(rooibos), or stevia sweetened squash/cordial.

I usually drink about 5-6 cans a day. I'm drinking one right now in fact.
Oh, and I've never been over-weight. the most I've weighed is 85 kilos.
My normal weight would be around 75, but right now, it's 60.

I don't have any of my natural teeth, though that is more due to improper brushing in my youth than coca-cola.
One of my biggest regrets in life.

Very rarely. I'll drink it if it's available, but I almost never buy it myself. The only kind of soda I buy is the tar flavoured one. It's the best. I love tar flavoured anything. But I only know one store that sells it, and it's a little far away to go to regularly.

So I just drink milk, and a lot of it.

My older brother loves mixing Red Bull, it's knockoffs, and other energy drinks with all sorts of alcoholic drinks, particularly Jagermeister. It's quite commonplace for him to by a bunch of energy drinks when people are coming over for this very reason.

You and I are of the same breed, sista'! Only major difference being that I'll usually just crave water when I'm sick rather than it burning me throat. I wonder why? XD

Used to drink loads every day but as part of losing weight I cut down on it a lot. Now I only have it regularly at the Youth Club I help to run each week, and that's only if there isn't "sports drinks" available.

Only other times I have it are when I'm out or I'm having friends over (where it's most likely mixed with alcohol)

I used to drink it religiously, but I've since toned that down since I wish to avoid dental problems in the future. My teeth are already less than stellar right now, and I do not wish for them to degrade further. That said, I still have a small drink of soda on occasion.
