My vote goes to World at War. It felt like they actually tried to match the sheer brutality of actual combat as opposed to the more shoot 'em up style of the other games. There were dismemberments, decapitations, bloodbaths, and everything else that comes along with war. It felt like it was aimed towards a more mature audience.

The multiplayer was also great fun. Aside from the popular MP40/ Juggernaut class, the game had great balance. Every weapon was valid and didn't step on the toes of other ones.

CoD 4, although both BlOps come pretty close. The singleplayer was pretty great and I had a good amount of fun with the multiplayer. The BlOps games were good for pissing about because of the bot mode.

I still need to reacquire the first two CoDs for PS2 but so far my favourites are either World at War or CoD 3. I miss the historical setting after having modern/future warfare titles thrown at us for the last little while. With World at War I adored the Russian campaign, it was lots of fun and I found it very interesting in terms of story telling.

With CoD 3, I only got it recently after having rented it many years ago so I'm rediscovering what I like about it. One thing I know I like for certain, however? Canadians. It's nice to have my countrymen be in a game like this without being the butt of some joke.

Hmmm. Debating the best is tough for me, but I'd have to go with MW2 only because I have got the most mileage out of that game, although CoD4 gets the booby prize of second place for the whole "lets let you think you got away from the bomb" scene. Yeah.
