I need to watch more of her videos, but I find them very creative, humorous and I love her voice. She really has some artistic talent in my opinion. :)

I wonder how she will do on her song about Yahtzee though?
maybe, "I hate everything and fancy myself a witty ol' bean, though I forsook being called a bean because I"m too good for england so moved to aussietown."

edit: Guitar solo.

They really are just horrible. They all sound pretty much the same and lets be fair, most of them have absolutely nothing to do with the game they are meant to be about.
Music is a creative process and it is clear she is just churning out recycled crap for the paycheck.
Not only that, but if you turn off you monitor, you get an idea of what the album'll be like :/ The only thing I can see getting her through is her rather quaint/simplistic videos, which obviously aren't included in a musical album. She's got a nice voice, and good 'indie' creativity, just wish she'd put a smidge more thought into her lyrics, and more variety in her melodies/style. I hate to say it, but the soft, whispering, guitar songs are all she's got. And while it's all good to have an established style, it's a little disconcerting when the songs about Batman, MW2, and Plants v. Zombies all sound the same.

After seeing the recent plug for the Yahtzee song (which I'm a bit apprehensive about, unless Rebecca can swear like a sailor) in the recent ZP, I checked out most of the Muses; a feature of the Escapist I had long ignored. I wasn't particularly overwhelmed by what I saw and heard, but I suppose it's just not necessarily 'my type' of music. So, being a musician and gamer with highly varied taste, I thought I'd ask the Escapist community for their collective gamer opinion on the quality of Rebecca's Muses(poll), and musical gaming parodies as a whole(discussion).

So, what do you think about gaming and music mixing? And do you enjoy it more as a humorous parody, or a straight-faced artistic piece?
I've never found Rebecca Mayes "funny" in a broad sense, and I don't think that's what she's trying to be anyway. I guess it's more whimsical Alice In Wonderland style humour and I'm okay with that, it's the sort of thing that brings a little thoughtful smile instead of making you roll around the floor. I don't mind some of the music and it's an okay diversion but I wouldn't buy it personally unless she started making it a bit musically darker somehow.

If she does a Yahtzee song she'd better use the line "triple-cunted hooker" somewhere or I'm going to be terribly disappointed. It would be good to hear her up the ante lyrically a little, she's always so sweet and nice, but this new project is begging for her to put some dirt in there (lyrically, not musically).
