Am i "skilled"because i got a direct impact on nuketown in the first 5 seconds?
If you can do it consistently, it's skill. If you do it and think 'OMG!' it's luck.

As for weapons, the most skilled weapons are the ones that do some kind of massive damage, but leave the operator open to retribution should he miss his shot.

In a game like Counter Strike, the knife, Shotguns, Scout and Awp are the skilled weapons. You have to be able to position yourself correctly to use them and should you miss the first shot there's a high chance you won't make a second. Of course the Awp is a nightmare because once a player as even basic mastery of it he becomes a pain in the ass...

Coming from a man that almost exclusively uses snipers/iron sighted bolt actions, shotguns hands down are the hardest weapons to use consistently well. Bolt action anything is piss easy once you get the quirks down of the individual game or weapon. The only reason they're ever difficult is because the game was poorly designed so that snipers are forced into close quarters. Shotguns, especially pump actions, are so poorly represented that you have to be within 10 feet and shoot a man squarely in the chest to get a kill.

Semi-auto snipers are actually harder than bolt action. Take MW2, put a silencer on a WA2000 without stopping power and see how well you do.

Dependent on the game, but generally a sniper rifle. Particularly ones that factor in bullet travel time and bullet drop.

But AWP is the friggin' patron saint of "noob" weapons! The most difficult part in using that weapon is getting the money to buy one.

Rocket Launcher. I have to train myself to not fire it when I'm stood too close to my enemy. I succeed around 45% of the time. XD

That's crap, play in the Cevo league. There's a WHOLE new level of AWPING.

EDIT: You might not have Cevo ladders in the U.S. (if that's where you're from), but play in similar ladders and you'll see. The AWP is a truly skillful weapon when playing high up in the ladders.

Double EDIT: I'm going to fucking kill this Captcha
I'm pretty sure leagues and clans take stuff like climbing a ladder to a whole new level too.

But seriously though, in those Cevo matches, doesn't it still take more skill to kill an AWPer with an AK-47 than vice versa?

A noob with an Awp is only a threat to other noobs.

I've killed vast numbers of idiots with awps, mostly by walking right up to them and shoving a TMP right up their nose. Some of the time they're even trying to shoot me while I do it. The Awp is only useful if you don't miss and you know where the enemy is coming from. It's movement penalty is huge, it's fire rate is crap and everyone on the map hears it the moment you pull the trigger. Certainly it's a pain in the rectum if you aren't paying attention, but it's not hard to get right up in a sniper's face and kill him.

Now the TMP is a weapon that takes very little skill, only a modicum of forward thinking. Sight on chest, 10round string, easy headshots, silence. Beautiful.

I'd say the skill is knowing your weapon and picking you battles. Every weapon type is good, as long as you know how to use it.

Semi auto/burst assault rifles such as the M16 IMO, when in close quarters such as city streets and clearing buildings. Especially when your enemy is armed with automatic weapons such as the Kalashnikov series. That's when you need your LSWs to lock down the streets.

Bolt action rifles in games with bullet drop when the gun isn't powerful enough to kill in one shot unless it's to the head.

If you aren't quickscoping, that's hard. If you are, you don't count as a person.

Shotguns aren't hard, unless you're glitching them at long range, but that's as bad as quickscoping. Up close a shotgun will usually waste someone quite nicely, and if it can't in one shot, well, that's why the AA12 was invented. That gun is awesome.

Mildly off topic, what's with the captchas now?

Unfortunately, most of the time guys with AWPs knows where the enemy is coming from and they're usually at the end of a corridor. Also, seeing as CS's maps are so small, other paths to him are usually protected by other members of the enemy team. Sometimes with other AWPs. And then the terrorists just basecamp even though they're supposed to plant the bomb. And then the counter-terrorists win. And then another round starts.

So usually you don't need to move a lot and fire rate isn't that much of an issue when there's other teammembers protecting you. Of course, if you play in clan matches and leagues and so on, there isn't as many teammates as in public servers so it gets a bit more tactical. Well, I guess, I've never played in one.

Well, as many have already stated, the level of difficulty of a weapon depends largely on the situation. So this question is kinda weird. I'd rephrase the question more to "Which weapon do you prefer least?".

For me though, I'd say that I'm having the hardest time with sniper rifles in general, be it bolt-action, semi- or full-auto. But that is because I generally dislike playing with them. I like the Shotguns and SMGs because I like to get up close and personal. That's just my playing style in most FPSess...(?) My friend, on the other hand, has the reverse problem. He can shoot the wings of a fly with a sniper but can't handle a shotgun or an SMG. Hehe, we make a good team though. :)
