I recently had my wisdom teeth removed and I was wondering about other escapists experience with wisdom teeth.
So here is my question:

Have you had your wisdom teeth pulled? If so, what was your experience like?

I had all 4 remove and my bottom two were impacted(coming in sideways).
I had anesthesia so I was asleep the entire time they removed them.
For about a week afterward I was on painkillers so I hardly felt a thing,
just a bit of a stiff jaw and a small amount of pain.

my wisdom teeth seem to have stopped growing entirely my lower left tooth has been halfway exposed for years. if they do continue to grow then I hope that they won't have to be pulled.

I'm only 17 but I have had my wisdom teeth for a while now and I've yet to need them removed. My teeth have actually gotten better since they came in. Odd how that happens :3

My wisdom teeth poke out to say howdy-doo and then disappear again...I wonder if they will eventually gain the courage to come out and join the rest.

Unless of course they screw my mouth up...in which case they can stay the fuck away.

I was supposed to get my wisdom teeth pulled a while back but it ended up not happening because we didn't have enough money. I should probably get them pulled before they start growing into my nose or some nonsense.

I have had 2 of my wisdom teeth extracted.

Both of them were badly impacted and I had to have them removed by a maxillo facial surgeon. I had the extractions done under twilight sleep with the removal of a shattered root canal filling done at the same time.

28 stitches for the wisdom teeth removal and I had came round by the time of the root canal removal which believe me is not a pleasant feeling. Think of an apple corer being used to remove the remains of a tooth. All you can hear and feel is bits of tooth being broken off.

If you had your wisdom teeth removed under a general anaesthetic I am not surprised you needed painkillers for a week post-op as I was the scrub nurse for quite a few of these in my time as a theatre nurse in plastic surgery ( and where I worked we did not do cosmetic surgery but specialised in traumatic wound injuries).

If you need wisdoms removed I would recommend Twilight sleep, I took pain killers for a day post-op and did not look like a hamster.

I had the top two pulled at the same time it was fine injections and then a pair of pliers and out they came felt really weird as one took a hell of a pull to come out, bottom two are half out but they aren;t getting pulled yet just a filling

Yep, I had them all removed several years ago before I went to university. Went quite well.

I remember going in, they stuck me with an IV, then the nurse mentioned something about slight memory loss... And next thing I know I'm awake with a wad of stuff in my mouth to keep me from bleeding all over the place. I stood up (although maybe a bit too quickly cause I stumbled around a bit for the first 30 seconds or so), walked out, went home.

I had taken work off in advance for the next couple days, but it really wasn't necessary. I wasn't in any pain, and although my mouth bled quite a lot during the first night due to my slow healing and thin blood, I felt perfectly fine the next day and the bleeding had stopped altogether. Oh well, at least I got time off work (I hated my job at the time, any excuse is a good one ).

Though the experience varies a lot from person to person, it was quite painless for me.

That's the same method they used on me. I came to as they were pulled the last one, felt no pain but a weird sensation. No swelling, no complications, and 3 days of painkillers mainly to help me sleep.

Mine have just been showing up in the past few months. On my next visit to the dentist I'm going to see if I need them pulled or not :/

I'm waiting for the dental insurance to kick in, then I suspect I'll be getting my left two pulled. They're getting inconvenient, and every once in a while painful. Haven't seen or felt anything of the right two.

I have all mine in and they don't bother me at all. I do feel bad for those that have to get them remover though. I don't really see the point in wisdom teeth other than they will most likely hurt people for fun.

All four out at once for this one. They were adversely effecting my other teeth so they had to go. Similar to others here I went in, they stuck me, next thing I knew I had gauze stuffed in my mouth and had a swirling head. Although funnily enough apparently I woke up too early or something since, even though I was the only one in the room, when I got up to walk around a nurse came over and set me back down in the chair where I promptly passed back out.
The next week or so was painkillers, gauze, and liquid food. Not pleasant considering that the only kind of altered mental state I like is a nightcap, but not unpleasant either. Just a little inconveniencing.

I had general anesthesia and only had some Aspirin for about two days, and then I was fine. It depends more on the person, really.

I only got them recently, a couple months ago, and it freaked me out at first; thought I had some kind of gum infection. Then I realised what they were.

They haven't hurt or done anything since they finished coming out though, so I think I'm fine.

I had all 4 of 'em pulled at once. One was impacted at a perfect 90 degree angle, growing into the neighboring molar (The x-rays were frighteningly neat). I was wide-awake the whole time, the two sleeping pills they gave me were rendered null by...adrenaline, I guess. I felt quite a bit of pain during the procedure, enough to make tears stream down my face. (I wasn't "crying" mind you), and LOTS of pressure.

I remember thinking in my head during the worst of it "Come on! PULL it! Pull this b*stard out of my mouth already!!"

Oh, and then the surgeon offered a free tongue frenectomy (the frenelum is that strip of flesh connecting the tongue to the bottom of your mouth). He said without it, I could stick my tongue out further, so I said go.

Ahh...good times. That night, I wish I took the hydrocodone for the pain that started to set in. Ugh.

Funny you bring that up, two of my wisdom teeth just started hurting about two weeks ago, almost the day I turned 19. And its been hell for me, have an apointment with an oral surgeon (Lul) this coming monday, so those are probly coming out. I look forward to the pain killers xD.

No,they were coming in sideways but my family has no money to go to the dentist. But then the strangest thing happened, my wisdom teeth (all 4 of them) straightened themselves out.

They aren't perfectly straight, but they're straight enough that I don't think they need to be pulled. It was so weird.
