Poll: Poll: Wisdom Teeth

Have you had your wisdom teeth pulled? If so, what was your experience like?

I had all 4 remove and my bottom two were impacted(coming in sideways).
I had anesthesia so I was asleep the entire time they removed them.
For about a week afterward I was on painkillers so I hardly felt a thing,
just a bit of a stiff jaw and a small amount of pain.

I had all of my wisdom teeth pulled because they were interfering with the orthodontia treatment I was undergoing. Fortunately, there were no complications and aside from having to rinse the sockets with salt water, I had no issue with the whole process.

On the downside, I made up for that by ultimately needing surgery as part of the aforementioned orthodontia. Whatever you went through with your wisdom teeth, it pales in comparison to having your jaw wired shut for 6 weeks.

I actually only have two wisdom teeth. I have none on the bottom which I'm thankful for because from what I understand, those are more likely to become impacted than the top ones. That and the two I have haven't started to descend yet. I may never have to get them out, but we still have a wait a couple years and see.

I've had no problems with them yet so I don't think they'll need to end up pulled.

I was told recently that when I join the military they will remove them regardless. But what I was told could be wrong as the source is questionable.

I got all four of them removed when I was 19 in one fell swoop. They hadn't caused any problems yet, but they would have if they were allowed to stay in for much longer. The bottom two in particular were badly impacted and might have really messed up my molars.

I was sedated for the procedure. Seeing as how I didn't sleep that well the night before, it didn't take much to put me under (apparently I started snoring at one point). I was a bit groggy when I came to, so my mother drove me home. I spent the next few days eating liquids and soft foods while watching the Clone Wars series (the awesome Samurai Jack-style one that is, not the current show). There was a bit of bleeding the first day and a dull pain for a little while after that, but recovery was uneventful for the most part.

I've been putting it off for a while, and insurance is running out later this year, but for a certain reason I can't get it done until next year. I guess that just gives me an excuse to keep putting it off.

Like a few others here, I'm genetically superior and don't have wisdom teeth.

One of the joys of evolution - it's still going on as we speak.

I still have all four, and I have no intention of getting them removed. They've all come out pretty straight, so I have no problems with them.

My wisdom teeth are growing in and at the moment they seem to be growing in fine, having four teeth pulled out to get my braces in probably helped create room in my mouth.

My wisdom teeth are still in my head at 27 and don't give me any trouble. I can only hear dog whistles and and wiggle my ears, all signs that I am a genetic throwback. Oh well, at least I'm not Ozzie Osbourne, they said he's a mutant.

I'll speak for my brother as he's had wisdom teeth taken out.

I think 5 or 6 teeth have came out of my brothers mouth. Painful isn't the word.

As for me? I haven't had any teeth removed, 2 ave popped out 1-2 years ago.

I have wisdom teeth. I had four, but then it was discovered that my bottom ones were gonna be trouble.

Sooooo, but bottom ones got yanked. And it !@#$ing hurt. I had to subsist on chicken soup for a week, and then soft stuff for another 2 weeks, and then slowly work my way back to normal food. It wasn't fun. Fortunately, my upper wisdom teeth are ok. Because I would NOT get them removed. It just hurt way too !@#$ing much the first time.

I got all my wisdom teeth removed. I could've kept them, but I didn't want to risk complications (ie; my other teeth move when I JUST got my braces off). It went okay, except no one told me the T3 don't work on our family. Luckily I only had one side removed but holy shit was it painful. Felt like someone punched me in the face then got a horse to kick me in the jaw.

When I got the other set removed, liquid tylenol EXTRA strength. Didn't feel a thing. That was a good day.

Other then that, no swelling they healed up without infection and I got to miss school for a day.
