Poll: Porn ads? Really?

So, here's me, extolling the virtues of old-school RPG design, when I see this in the banner ad:

Now, as an unrepentant elitist, it annoys the crap out of me to see a banner ad aimed directly at creepy neckbeards on my favorite "let's debate about whether games are art or not for the thousandth time" site, and would much prefer a different sort of ad.

So, a poll was born. Is this sort of thing acceptable? Am I being a prudish American? Discuss.

Ahaha looks like one of the people who bought advertising managed to sneak that ad in. The escapist would never purposefully allow that.

I don't think porn really has a good place for advertising here. However, this is for a PS3 streaming service, which has been covered by The Escapist before [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/116779-Streaming-Porn-Service-Blasts-the-PS3]. It's a little different than seeing a "XXX CAMGIRLS!!" ad. If memory serves, they didn't even put a link in that article. Yes, technically, the website was visible, but it wasn't acknowledged.

I like how my first thought after seeing the ad for the first time was "Silly Escapist, we're on the internet. I don't need this service."

In all seriousness this doesn't bother me that much. The only thing I find wrong with it is that I view the Escapist in public locations quite often and the porn adverts could get me into some minor trouble in some of those locations.

I personally don't mind. To me an ad is an ad and at least a porn ad might be fun to look at for a few times.

Or maybe it'd be just as annoying, I don't know.

Funny...that's the ad at the bottom of this page right now. Doesn't bother me at all...much rather see some eye candy than a UPS ad, doesn't mean I'm going to click on it but I don't object to it being there.
