Wich end credit song was better between Portal and Portal 2? Simple question not many options.... Both were written by Jonathan Coulton, and the singer was Ellen McLain. So we can rule out writer and singer for reasons why.

I prefer "Still Alive". reason why is i think the vocals worked better with the music. With "Want you Gone" Ellen was singing and the music wasnt following the whole time. As in Ellen was singing again and the beat was doing the pause part still in "Want you Gone" but not in "Still Alive".

Anyway I look forward to more valve games with Ellen McLain doing some voice acting. I wasnt impressed that GLaDOS wasnt more chaty with Wheatly, and that the character didnt talk as much as she did in Portal. but then again the turrets were similar in amount of things they said.

Still Alive.

In fact, it's the only "JoCo" song I like.

Still over-hyped as fuck, though.

I think I like the new one better, don't know why.
Edit: I think it's because I like the ending of portal two better
where GLaDOS decideds that Chells too hard to kill and that she needs to get the fuck out.

Personally, the second one. Catchier tune I guess. Never thought Still Alive was that great honestly...

The biggest difference is GLaDOS's character development.
Still Alive fits with her mid-to-late game Portal 1 personality whereas Want You Gone is GLaDOS after her morality core is destroyed (i.e. the sexy voice) and all of Portal 2 (okay, she gets a tiny bit nicer over the course of the game). I'd put them roughly equal either way, since they both contribute to their games very well.
Still Alive is more instantly memorable, but after a few listens Want You Gone is stuck in my head as well (also, I went online and listened to it over and over again, which generally means the song worked).

As I've said before, though:
The second game has the opera, therefore it wins.

Meh, I find the ambience and the menu songs more awesome... Either way, to choose between the two, Still alive I guess...

I liked "Want You Gone" better. Mostly because the vocals actually sounds like GLaDOS. Still Alive was funnier though.

Still Alie is catchier.

But, mainly because of the plot in Portal 2, the lyrics of Want You Gone say a lot more about GLaDOS, imo.

Tie.

The second song had almost funky rythm too it. The jauntiness was cut down in my opinion. Still cool song. AND SHE CALLED ME FAT AGAIN!

I disagree, Portal's plot with GLaDOS' character and "Still Alive" meshed quite perfectly. Only after playing Portal 2 does "Want you Gone" have more meaning for the character in comparison to "Still Alive". but thats a moot point because "Want you Gone" meshed perfectly with GLaDOS' character development in Portal 2. both songs fit that criteria perfectly, they meshed with the game perfectly as a standalone game.

all that said i cannot see a tie here.

yes it did and i wouldve liked it better if it matched the lyrics. the mismatch was what gets me.

Never said that Still Alive didn't mesh with GLaDOS' character. Since GLaDOS develops a lot more in Portal 2, Want You Gone says a lot more about her, though.

I like the new song. As a song, it's got more vocalization - more of a song than being spoken. The lyrics are simpler, more heartfelt- but Still Alive is definitely more funny.
