now my general veiw here is not "Portal 2 is going to be mediocre" no quite the oposite I think its going to be totally awsome!!!!

but....

this is a game with a rediculous reputation to live up to, and I have a feeling there could be a certain blacklash if it doesnt turn out as "perfect" as people are hoping it to be

though many people trut Valve (including me) and personally a "longer" portal (for me, just my opionion) is somthign to look forward too

I am curious to see how the length of the main story compares to co-op, even if it is short I am willing to make an exception for Portal

so yeah what I saying is Im hoping that after release there isnt going to be a storm of threads going "portal 2 was meh" or "portal 2 sucks" because Im pretty sure I wont be able to get it on release day

My expectations are higher than Seth Rogen at Cheech Marins house.

But if my expectations are not met, I wont really mind, because Valve have earned the right for us to cut them some slack.

I think its going to be awesome. If its not, I still think its going to be really really good. Some people will probably be disappointed, but some people can fuck off.

Cautiously optimistic.

I learned some time ago to never get hyped over stuff. Nothing is ever guaranteed to be good.

Besides, at the end of the day it's just a video game.

I never get hyped over things... and I'm hyped as fuck over this. I swear, if it's not good, I'm going to stop feeling happy forever.

I dont see whats not to love about it...I really enjoyed playing portal - add co-op and new features to the core gameplay and how can i not enjoy it?

I dont think I can really put it with other games in terms of expectations because well...I see it as a interesting puzzle more than anything else. That being said I think it will be awesome - just because im looking forward to playing a game i loved single player wise with my friend(s)

Most alternatives are the same, or awesome or bad. In my opinion going to be MEH, since they making so much market of it i don't think the game will be a cult classic, probably is going to be something enjoyable but not as epic as the first. Seriously, the marketing and promotion of the game is agressive, 200 trailers of 5 minutes every single week, calm down people.

Honestly just from watching that first 10 minutes footage, i'm more than happy with the humor. And really the humor is what makes portal portal.

I would say, being a valve game, it would be the best it currently can be. Valve put a lot of effort into making games but a lot of what they do is so subtle you cannot notice it. You just feel it.

The only thing I can see being wrong with it is replayability. Once you have solved all of the puzzles, what next?

Still, My thoughts: It will be damn good!

it being "good" is pretty much garunteed

but that depends on your expectations and definition of "good"

It'll defiantly be worth buying, though because I've already planned to purchase other titles (Gears 3, Duke Nukem: Forever, Deus Ex 3, Brink, etc).

Maybe I'll buy it off Ebay around the end of the year.

i'm not really looking forward to portal 2. i don't doubt it will be good but i'm not exited for it.
valve have an exellent track record so it'll be good but i don't feel it was really necessary, but they can recognise a big pile of money when they see it.

also, where the hell is episode 3?

well portal is set in the same universe......so I imagine there might be a hint or too (even more interesting if it takes place waaaaaaay after the events of the enitre half life series..since chell has been in statsis so long I think)

I think it's going to be just what the first one was. A good, solid puzzle game with some decent humour thrown in. Nothing more, nothing less.

I got a good feeling about it. as a PS3 gamer i'm looking forward to what Valve will be doing with the title on the system but also some of the services it will bring. For the PS3 this is a very exciting prospect and i can't wait to see what happens.

Also can't wait to hear Stephen Merchant as Wheatley, the first actual character in the series you can interact with? gotta be fun.

I think that it'll be a good game, but I'm not sure whether it'll be as good as the first simply because the first knew when to end so it didn't drag on and on. Although I am really looking foward to hilarious griefing engine co-op.

The thing is with Portal, is that it didn't do that much and was in length the size of a small expansion pack, meaning that if you were to compile a check-list of everything i tried to achieve it would fit on a post-it note. So yeah, they will probably deliver a well-rounded game, hopefully with no buggs.
