It bothers me when people "joke" about the cake without having even played the game.

If Portal's script doesn't become as infamous as the one from Zero Wing, then most likely it will be an inside joke until the next big thing rolls around. Portal is going to stick around for a long time though.

Exactly. I still hear people saying "All your base" to this day. It'll never totally die out, no matter how aggravating it gets to hear people say "the cake is a lie" ad nauseum.

I think it'll die, simply because "The cake is a lie" has so much less uses than "All your base are belong to us". I really only hear "The cake is a lie" randomly or when someone specifically sets the person up to use it.

Hmm Portal to me was kinda like Napolean Dynamite or a Will ferrel movie. They get better by talking about them after it's over amongst friends. Like before the hype and the cake jokes were everywhere, you ran through the game in like 2 or 3 sessions and it was rather quick. Required some amount of brain power which is cool for a fps. But I thought it was good. not great. kinda creepy for a little while till i came to the conclusion that glados was kinda an asshole. (But the firepit murder attempt and assume the party position was brilliant). And it had some great lines. But like i said. I get more out of it by talking about it now then i did while i was playing it.
