Poll: possibility that halo was based on half-life

So my friends and I were arguing(we argue alot about stupid and random subjects) about halo and half-life and the similrities they have in common then gun(friends name) said "what if halo was based on half-life" well it got me thinking.
1)gordans' power armour-the mark IIV power armour
2)alien invasion-alien invasion
3)half-lifes frindly NPC civilians-halo's frindly NPC marines
4)head crabs-the flood
5)both have linear levels going from encounter to encounter(obviously a joke)
there are more but i don't want to post more of them.
So i actually want answers not just"HOW DARE YOU COMPARE HALF-LIFE TO HALO" i actually want to know if it's possible that halo was based on half-life.
or if they where just games that came out around the same time and had similer ideas

Halo was based on Marathon. Here's why;

1; You use powerarmor of similar kind in Marathon (but everyone uses powerarmor, so whatevs)
2; In Marathon, you're a cyborg too.
3; There's an alien invasion, but instead of Covenant, they're called P'hor. They too are made up out of mixed races from a galactic empire
4; Bungie, the same studio that made Halo, made Marathon before they made Halo.
5; The god-damn Marathon LOGO is in the Halo logo. It's a clear reference.

Now what's that, in the center of the Halo-logo? Hmmmm...

There's even these images all over the internet;

Notice the similarity?

Or something that might just be Master Chief unless it clearly said "Marathon", and is a "cut-scene" from Marathon 2: Durandal.

TL;DR version: Halo is Marathon without the high quality.

I voted for "a little".

You see, "take points from" and "based on" are two very different things.

In no way is Halo based on Half-Life, but it most certanly does take points from it.
But then again so does every other FPS game released after Half-Life. It is not called the greatest FPS ever for nothing you know!

These are all incredibly general. It's like if I said that "Assassin's Creed II" takes things from "Call of Duty" because technically both games involve guns.

Also, why is number 5 a joke? It's no more ridiculous then the others. I mean, really? Alien invasion? Do you think that Half Life invented those or something?

It can't be, given that the idea for Halo was drawn up before Half Life was released.

Your thinking Half-Life 2. the original half-Life was already out when Halo was being developed for PC before MS decided to buy the studio and make it the flagship game for the Xbox.
