I've been very conflicted over this for the past couple days, and with only 3 or so left to decide I figured I'd ask you, the community what you thought.

I want to play Dragon Age 2, but with so many games disappointing me when I pre-order them, those being Final Fantasy XIII and Fallout: New Vegas, I am hesitant to put money towards a game that might not end up being all that good. That, and the fact that they will probably just come out with an "ultimate" edition just like Dragon Age 1, which has made me regret buying Dragon Age Origins like, a week before they announced the compilation.

That being said, I do like Bioware, and I want to support them. But I am on a budget, and I'm still skeptical. What are you all planning to do?

The extras for the Signature Edition are quite nice. I preordered it because it's the only game this year I want that I know of until Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, and Skyward Sword (which has a chance of not coming out this year, believe it or not)

I pre-ordered the game simply because I love Bioware and I was impressed by the free "Signature Edition" upgrade. Whether or not I end up buying the game is up in the air, but my pre-order is fully refundable so there really is no risk here.

Hard to say if it's worth it since it won't be out til March. I want to know as little about the story and characters as possible before hand so I haven't following it closely. I checked out a gameplay trailer and the combat looked like an improvement over Origins. Though if it didn't come with a decent amount of bonus stuff, I wouldn't have pre-ordered it.

If you are worrying about money and don't mind not playing games asap, then just wait it out. Everything drops in price eventually.

(For the poll: combo of all 3 yes options so... I pass on voting)

I enjoyed the first game and have faith in BioWare, so I was probably going to pre-order the game or buy it on day one anyways. The Signature Edition bonus is just icing on the cake. And, if I decide I really don't want the game, I'll just cancel the pre-order.

Origins is by far the best RPG Bioware has made since KotOR, so yes.
I am going to pre-order this, for sure. I'm probably gonna get the signature edition, for the DLC and the extra goodies.

Well, my answer is a combo of "I want the DLC" and "The game should be awesome." My opinion on DLC is actually very low (I FUCKING HATE IT--it was made to get money from all the people who buy the games used, but I never do that, so producers should give codes in all new games that unlocks all the DLC for free, and make the used buyers pay for it). This pre-order comes close to my vision for DLC (since it is free if you pre order), so hopefully my support for it will make the industry realize that free DLC to new buyers and preorders is the way to go. And then they will do it for ME3, because I was forced to give them $10 for the ME2 Liara DLC... And I paid $60 for the collector's edition (anyone else know why they chose that name?).

In short, yes it is worth it because you get free DLC.

You know the offer is only good until Jan 11, right?

When I first heard of the sequel wasn't going to preorder it. But after I played it at PAX I loved it so much I decided to preorder it. It is well worth it

This actually seems to be the smart move. I can upgrade to the better edition and then just cancel the pre-order if it turns out I don't want the game/it's shit (as unlikely as that might be).

Good teamwork guys.

You get a free upgrade to Signature Edition with a bunch of free stuff? What's wrong with you? Dragon Age 2 is one of 2011's most anticipated games (says the polls, anyway).

And so what if they release a DA2 Ultimate Edition later? No one says you have to buy all the DLC. You think everyone was willing to wait for the ODST Multiplayer disk with all the Halo 3 maps on it? The one or two year wait isn't always worth saving a couple of bucks.

They haven't even come up with an 'Ultimate' edition for ME2 yet.

Definitely worth it. Sure, it's just a marketing technique in the end, but why complain when you get free stuff, no matter how big or small?

To be honest, I really hate the idea of DLC, especially day 1 DLC, and I really don't want to show my support of it. That's one of the main reasons why I don't want to buy it. I honestly think that DLC is slowly ruining the gaming industry by making us gamers pay more for less, and setting the precedent that game makers don't have to finish the game before releasing it; they can just release 2/3 of it, charge full price, and then charge us 30 dollars for the rest of the game.

It's just not something I want to see happening, but it seems like we're heading down this road regardless...

I never said I really liked the idea of DLC, especially this. But I am a fan of Dragon Age, and will be getting Dragon Age 2 no matter what, so why not just take this as it is?

It's marketing strategy and enough people buy into it for companies to see it as a worthwhile endeavor. It doesn't matter to the company what users think about it (Bioware might care somewhat though), only how much of it we buy.

That is what they have been doing for the last year! EA started the $10 plan, where they hand out a code with every copy of the game for free DLC, and then have the DLC for sale online for $10 or more. Bad Company 2 had that in the form of new game modes and maps, Madden (and other sports games by EA) have it in form of a pass that lets you play online, Mass Effect 2 had the Cerberus Network and Dragon Age Origins had Shale for free with a code that came with the game.

It is really hard for me to explain, but I will give it a shot. One thing that was changed was at one point controlled 4 characters not including the main character. That was only for one battle though, so I am not sure if it is going to be there a lot of that. Combat flows a lot nicer than in the original and the battles seemed a lot quicker than in the original, thought this could be because I was playing it on a 360 when I normally played the original on the PC. Your special moves are more useful than in the original. Plus, your party members are a lot smarter than in the original in my opinion. Finally, even thought the first game is one of my favorite games, I felt more immersed in the story from what I played than I did in most of Origins. There is more that smaller differences that I am forgetting, but I will comment when I remember.

Yeah, well it was just a few DLCs not all the DLC... I want all the DLC to be free with a new game purchase... ME2 had some of the DLC free (not the Liara one though...), Dragon age had only Shale free. Those are the only EA games I got last year, and they have the closest to new games get free DLC. But it should be all the DLC (or at least all the good DLC, I don't want extra weapon and armor packs, I want more missions and more story).
