Mostly whatever the JRPG throws at me for playable characters. But I do like to change it up when I get the opportunity.

I can only play as a male. I think it's because I see my character as a representation of me. And I just don't feel right if my character is a women. Kinda like if that female warrior society, the Amazons, I think, had a male ambassador or something.

Damn, I voted I like to play female before I saw the "only on my second playthrough" option.

What I usually do when I get a new RPG is make a male, and play the first hour or two of the game. Inevitably when I get a feel for the controls and level system I start over. Usually as a female.

Also, there's something about a pretty lady that can set you on fire with her mind.

I play as what ever the main character is. If I had a choice I would be a male, unless it is funnier to be a girl.

Same here. It's not that I'm opposed to be playing as a female, but playing as a male just comes more natural to me. It's quite rare that I'll make a female character. I can only remember making one on my second Fallout 3 playthrough and a Human Priest alt back when I still played WoW.

It's just an excuse people use to make themselves feel better.
If they told anyone the truth, that they actually feel more comfortable role playing as female, then they'd feel their sexuality would be brought into question.

IMO, if you're more comfortable playing a female, then play a female.
I'm not comfortable playing anything but male characters in RPGs that give me the option to choose.
A rather opinionated statement, especially considering you're judging many people (a lot of people in this thread, since it's a reason that has become quite common) as sexually uncomfortable despite having no knowledge of their lives outside this forum. I'm not sure what you're trying to prove, but I'd say it's harmless to assume that whatever people say here is an honest, personal statement.

Well since most games require that you play as a male when I do have a choice I play as a female.

I usually play as male. Thats for the soldiers, the tanks/warriors etc. I try and get them to look like a good looking version of myself haha.

There is one(-ish) exception. If I'm playing as a caster (and sometimes engineer) I play as female. I always try and get them to look the same too.
So, in Dragon Age and ME, my mage/engineer = female (boy was I suprised that Leliana in DA:O is an option for male *and* female characters...)

i'm a guy who plays as a girl, simply because i'd rather stare at her arse than some guy. that's all it boils down to really.
