Usually my left side if I can. If I sleep on my right,I'm facing away from my window and towards the wall, meaning there's no light in my face when I wake up, meaning I usually go back to sleep.
Although it's been so dark in the mornings recently it doesn't make much difference.
? I wouldn't want to sleep in a question mark -position. That would mean I was sleeping with my chopped up foot or another body part. I prefer staying in one piece. I don't like the manga/anime though.
Extremely rarely on my back. As a kid I used to always at least begin the sleeping process laying on my stomach before I got really sleepy. Then I'd usually switch to sleeping on a side, maybe switch sides a couple times and then fall asleep.
Nowadays, usually on my side, perhaps the left one more so. Sometimes still on my stomach too. Usually when I wake up laying on my stomach I have my hands straight up (not in the air obviously). They often get numb. There are few more slightly annoying and at the same time hilarious situations as waking up with both hands completely numb and then trying to turn off the alarm, waving too dead hands around.
I always have my hands at least on chest level or higher.
Either one of my sides. When I go on my right side my arm is underneath me, on my left I either put my hand under my head or the pillow. Sleeping on my back is the most uncomfortable, painful really after a while. Once I?m asleep I don?t move about much if at all.
I sleep kinda oddly. I put my arms between the two pillows I use, cross them, and curl up the rest of my body, effectively laying on my arms. Strangely, even if I do wake up like this, I hardly ever end up with "dead" arms. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's about the closest a human can be to sleeping like a dog.
Those who have shared a bed with me report that although I start out on my right side and seemingly relaxed, after I've been asleep for awhile I tend to curl up into the question mark/fetal position and twitch. Post-traumatic stress disorder's not good for you.
Those same people report that when they snuggle up to and hold me (because let's face it, when a girl sees her boyfriend or husband in that kind of position, she's gonna worry about him, right ladies?), I tend to relax completely and melt.
I start by lying on my belly, head turned to the right. Then I roll on to my back and thats when I normally fall asleep... I then wake up the following morning curled up like a question mark :3
I too have heard many pseudoscience reasons for different positions. I generally start perfectedly straight on my back, becasue I have a bad back and this is most comfortable. But once I fall asleep I slowly assume the fetal position and every couple of hours roll to my other side.
