Yep, Killzone 2 (and the PS3 to play it on). I won't be making that mistake again...
Me too.
Thankfully I only rented it (maybe that's why I didn't include it) but the aiming controls are just so terrible, I found the only way to play the game without tearing my hair in frustration out was to go knife-only.
Knife only had the 1-hit kill and doesn't require precise aiming like with the assault rifle and sprinting up to the enemy the AI just doesn't seem to know what to do I can whiz through the game quite quickly. It was the only way I was able to complete the game which was aided by it's incredibly short length, of about 7 hours with zero re-playability value.
The problems with Killzone 2's controls are many.
-analogue "dead-zone" makes precise aim adjustments almost impossible
-controller lag of almost 500ms: this is the lag between the game processing the input
-inconsistent framerate of 30-20fps: COD4 aims for a solid 60fps for a very good reason
-the game weapons them self have unrealistically high recoil and even with high deflection the cross-hairs are painfully slow to return to original point of aim
I don't buy it that these problems are not problems but about "realism". Excuse me but KZ2 is set in the far future of faster than light travel and battling mutant race of rebelling colony, there is NOTHING realistic about that.
Even if it was, COD4 know where realism should end and where a game should be made controllable and responsive. Aiming is hard enough with a gamepad compared to a mouse, what Killzone 2 does turns difficult controls into game-breakingly awful controls.
