Jesus B-Cell you really are like a sentient click bait article.

Out of the 2 I'd say System Shock. Only because of the nostalgia attached though. Prey looks interesting but the game play trailer they put out didn't really drive me crazy with anticipation. I'll wait and see how both games turn out. You know, like a sensible person.

Not hyped but I greatly enjoyed Dishonered 1 & 2 and since Prey is made by the same devs I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'm interested in the remake of System Shock(never played the original) but it also looks like more 'Bioshock' but without the shooty parts(which I guess makes sense if you try to modernize the first game that inspired a series). Neither of those games look manly enough to be goty tbh.

I generally don't do hype, which is why I'm rarely wrong like a certain someone who believed Quantum Break would be amazing.
Because system shock is one of the most influencial and inspirational PC game ever and original game is getting proper remake (not remastered)

Other is game by talented studio making FPS in a vien of System shock

From the gameplay demos I've seen from both games, Prey looks much better. Prey is very much similar to Dishonored (I realize it's the same dev) where you can use powers/abilities in tandem to perform really interesting things.

Is it really a remake? From the comparison video, it looks like the remake is going to copy the level design and such from the original pretty much exactly. If that's the case, then it's just the same game with a graphical overhaul (even if from scratch). I wouldn't call that a "new" game then as it's just recreating the exact same experience. In comparison, something like the FF7 remake will be a new game because lots will be changed like the battle system.

the combat is complete new. only thing they have is same level design because they have one of the all time great level design. otherwise it would be ruined.

it will have different soundtrack and voice acting too.

FF7 will be a remake than fans will hate.

From the gameplay demo, the combat seemed as rudimentary as possible, it's what I'd imagine a game from its era playing like (as I didn't play the original).

FF fans like shit combat and archaic game mechanics. Even at release FF7 had shit gameplay, which is why I never played it. I played a bit of FF6 on SNES, then tried FF10 to find the game hadn't advanced one fucking bit after 2 generations; same shit combat with random battles.

Why would anyone be hyped up for prey? I mean the original was neat but this new one doesn't seem to have anything to do with it.

Because it's Arkane Studios and the gameplay looks awesome. I couldn't care less that it has nothing to do with the original. Isn't it a good thing that we're getting basically a new IP from a great developer? It's like how 10 Cloverfield Lane was a great movie even though it really had nothing to do with Cloverfield.

And to prove you right, they completely hated FF12 because "who wants an offline MMO?" Fucking me, for starters.
Funny you should mention FF12 because in a sense, it proved all prior FF combat was indeed shit. When you break down how the combat of FF12 worked turn-by-turn, it was exactly the FF10 combat system. FF12 merely kept you out of menus as much as possible. Instead of having to input every command, you just had to input the important commands. If everyone was doing well health-wise, you just attack. If a character just got hit hard, the healer will heal next turn. If there's a creature vulnerable to fire, you use fire magic. The gameplay across the series was that simple. All FF12 did was allow you to program in some if-then-else statements (gambits) to have the player avoid doing such constant simple management. Put gambits in FF10 (or any FF) and you really have the same combat as FF12. If a game can play itself with merely a few lines of programmed code (if-then-else statements), it doesn't have the strategic depth to merit turn-based combat. The point of turn-based combat is that there's supposed to be so much going on that it literally can't be done in real-time. So many JRPGs would advertise that they had fast and "exciting" combat, but that's not what good turn-based combat is. Can you program XCOM or Chess to play themselves with only a few lines of code? Hell no. What's the point of requiring the player to do something for 50+ hours that a computer can be programmed to do for you in literally a couple minutes?

Prey because it's manliest, and not an obvious Bioshock ripoff
But you can play as a female in Prey. How can it be manly?
Morgan Yu by default is male, female version is secondary. they didnot advertise female morgan, neither in trailer nor in promotion.

even in boxart this is morgan present.
Wait, you can play as a gross girly girl in Prey?

Yuck. The game is clearly going to be crap. Not manly enough to be GOTY. Why are you even talking about it bro?

Why didn't you tell us this in your many threads B-Cell? Were you trying to trick us into buying it? Making us think we'd get a proper manly game then springing the gross girly surprise when it was too late?

That's unethical bro.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy FF12 for non-combat reasons and Xcom is definitely better; but if only minor changes are to be made to Final Fantasy, it would be exactly what FF12 did with combat. It can't be understated how much I completely despise my trek across any landscape being rudely interrupted because random wildlife is both invisible (until they yank me into their shitty pocket-dimension) and suicidal. The menu bollocks is also not great.
Yeah, I agree, I've always hated random battles. The environment is supposed to be filled with life and monsters yet my backyard is more interesting to look at. It makes the world feel so empty and devoid of life. Just walking out the gates in FF12 for the first time and seeing that dinosaur walking about was awesome. Or just being able to walk through areas and having my party effortlessly kill wolves without constantly being stopped and taken to said pocket dimensions. FF12 wasn't perfect or great by any means but it was far better than past games in the series.

They shouldn't fucken call it Prey then if it has nothing to do with Prey, its not called Prey 2, its not called Prey Lane, its Prey, unless its a fucken remake call it something else. Fuck it for having the same name.

Neither.

I mean I fucking backed the System Shock remake and I'm not "hyped" for it. I thought "oh hey, I'll like this" and backed it.

B-Cell threads are what I'm hyped for, cause even when The Escapist continues to slowly go down, I can always expect this kind of entertainment to keep things going. I'll laugh and laugh at this utter shit for as long as this site lasts

Assuming it sticks close to it, fixing issues of the original, System Shock.
While I like Arcade games, giving a great amount of freedom with creativity, they tend to overpower the player.
