How do you feel about professional wrestling? I know a lot of people don't watch on the principle that it's fake and therefore bad, but I think those people are just dumb. I know full well that it's fake, but I still find it damn enjoyable to watch. It's akin to a play really, but with more ham and more guys hurting themselves. Sometimes it gets a little lame (like this Michael Cole business, thank god it's over), but it's always fun to see where they'll take the storylines next.

And yes, I like John Cena. Suck it, Miz!

It's still enjoyable even though it's fake. I used to watch it when I was younger even though it was quite obviously fake. I've grown out of it now and haven't watched it for a couple of years, but I'm going to vote Yay on this one.

I enjoy it, mainly for the stupidly hammy acting and OTT storylines. Although I'm more of a TNA guy myself, seeing as that's all I can get on Freeview TV. Still, pretty damn awesome though.

With me there's an old saying that applies to my love for pro wrestling:
In Japan it's a sport.
In Canada it's a tradition.
In Mexico it's a religion.
In America it's a joke.

I'm always finding myself watching promotions like NOAH, ROH, FMW, NJPW, AAA, and ZERO-ONE. It's the only way I get actual wrestling out of a wrestling show.

Used to like it when i was little, but tbh its more of a crappy soap drama, i think the south park episode spoofing it covered it pretty well.

I voted Nay, however its a bit of a dubious nay. I don't hate it because its fake, course its fake... The shows not a fight show, its a stunt show and it can be pretty fun to watch. Yes its true that they fake hitting each other, you can tell they are missing and that they stamp the floor when they throw to make it sound like hitting. Thats true enough, the decisions are fake too, its a picked before hand and thats alright. However what they don't and can't fake is a man being thrown from a 50 foot ladder. Thats real and I imagine that really hurts, I know its on to a bunch of mats on the floor and that really cushions the blow however I can image it still hurts like a bastard and as a guy whose scared of heights, I've got to say, that takes some balls to do.

So yeah, if you take your mind out of it and your not one of the idiots who think its real (seriously I know people who do, not just kids either, grown adults) its a really entertaining, well choreographed(well used to be) stunt show.

As for the nay part, well you asked if I actively watched it, I don't, I don't have sky or channels that show it. I do watch it every now and again at my cousins house. Mostly the specially events and it helps me catch up on it. However I don't actively watch it.
That and if I did have sky, I probably wouldn't, I only really watch it there because my cousin and his mum watches it (his mums one of those adults that do think its real) I'm at their house and well I don't really have any other choice outside of just simply walking out. Which is rude and honestly if someone would actually do that simply out of principle of not watching a show they don't like, then I honestly think they're an ignorant prick.

Why wouldn't I watch it you ask, just not my cup-o-tea. As said, I've got no problem with the fake part, I see it as a fun stunt show. However, I don't like the stories these days, there boring and unoriginal, I swear they're just repeating the same story over and over. Characters acting completely out of character just for the sake of it so they can play the bad guy these days. There also no fun anymore, I remember watching it in the 90's and very early 2000's and it was fun, it was silly but it was fun. These days, they take it way too seriously. Hell I remember when the undertaker used to wear purple gloves and look like a comic book villain. That was fun. Also, they demasked Kane, Kane used to look scary. He used to look bad-ass, when Kane appeared in the ring, you know shit was going down. Now he just looks like generic bold wrestler no.116.

So yeah I don't really watch it anymore outside of weekly visits to my cousin. Wouldn't watch it if I had a choice. No longer my cup-o-tea. Ho and I hate John Cena with a passion, vanilla ice on steroids.

I dunno, WTF felt like a really weak episode. It seemed like Matt and Trey hadn't actually watched wrestling in four years. So, having the boys wear a "Get the F out" t shirt felt anachronistic. Even then, you'd never see a storyline where people actually talked about sleeping with each other nowadays. Too risky given the current demographics.
I dunno, maybe my jaded fan perspective makes it harder for me to find wrestling (outside of Chikara Pro) funny.

I have watched The Wrestler...man that's a good movie. Though that shit was different.
The Wrestler is good, but very exaggerated as far as how low one can really sink.
Important to note, most of the wrestlers and promotions features in the movie really do exist.
The Red and Black ring comes from Ring of Honor.
The Yellow and Black ring is from Combat Zone Wrestling.
The man stapling Mickey Rourke's head is named Necro Butcher.
Ring of Honor is the largest Indy promotion in the USA, and works more like this:

Whereas CZW is a hardcore promotion. They do stuff like that all the time...

Anyway, in anything resembling the real world, the Doctor from the State Athletic Commission would have stopped Randy from preforming that night. ROH would never green light a man to wrestle if he there was a high chance he could die while doing it.
While we're at it, the fans probably wouldn't have seriously Boo'ed the wrestler with the Iran gimmick. It's not 1986. In the original take, they cheered like they would for any legend (Ernie Miller in this case), but Darren wanted a more thematic approach than realistic so they were instructed to act like the hostage crisis was still going on.
So it goes.

WWE died after the attitude era. The only reason i kept watching WWE until 2004 was because of Kurt Angle

As for other professional wrestling circuits, I didn't care much about them.

I never really got into it. I readily admit that I just don't get it. I understand that it's meant to be a fun soap-opera type thing but the "stories" just don't interest me. I'd rather see actual fighting, like a MMA tournament or something.

Having said that, I do enjoy the Asian take on American wrestling where the combat is equally staged but there's an added pain element and lots of blood as people slam each other into barbed wire and so forth. That's quite fascinating in a "I can't believe I'm seeing people do this to each other" type of way, I guess it appeals to me for the same reason that I might watch Bumfights, 2girls1cup or Faces Of Death. The American version - not so much.

UFC is way more entertaining.
UFC, MMA in particular will eventually become exactly like Pro-Wrestling is today. It wasn't that long ago in the scheme of time that Pro-Wrestling was a legitament sporting event (think early 1900's) and wrestling matches would go on for several hours. It started to become fake when Ed "Strangler" Lewis was undefeated and started taking dives to keep people interested in the sport... and then eventually Gorgeous George came along and well *shrugs* natural progression. Think about it, would you want to get hit in the face for a living when you could possibly make more money putting on a charade?

If MMA doesn't it's popularity will eventually fall into lackluster like todays Boxing.

So then, it'll be like Shootfighting?
