My argument is generally "people can do whatever the hell they like with their own body, if they want to sell it, they can", but my problem is with STDs. Sure a hooker might tell you she doesn't have AIDS or Gonorrhea or syphilis, but she might be lying as well. I know that's what protection is for, but...

I wouldn't use their services myself, but yes, i think it should be legal. Government would get some extra money, pimps would go out of business and prisons would get a few free cells. As far as i can tell police are going after them only because they don't pay taxes, so why not legalize it and let them work in a safe environment where your employers wont kick your ass if you don't get enough clients that day.

Hahah. Oh wow.

I like how we always have these mature conversations, but I would rather think other options for these people than prostitution.

Illegal? no, its a way of living, there are guys that like to have sex and there are girls that will have sex with them for a hefty sum

i do think it should be REGULATED that with all the AIDS and other nasty diseases that can come out of there

people will always want to have sex and there will always be others that can sell them sex, but if there were a more regulated the "pimps" the abuse and the diseases will be eliminated

of course "drugs" are mixed with prostitution, but if one takes prostitution and regulates it, it would be much safer for everyone.

Yes, only because there's no reason it shouldn't be. That's my stance on any law. If you can give me any *good* reason whatsoever that something should be illegal, I'll agree with you.

This is the community that said consensual sex between a brother and sister/father and daughter/mother and son should be legal and is completely alright...
Any reason it isn't alright?
Do you have a sibling around your age? Can you imagine having sex with a family member, how does it make you feel?

Have you seen hes sister?

Oh well. On serious note. You asked him an opinion. You know how people have opinions and fetishes, right? yeah.

This community is sadly known for its smartnesses. You're right on that. Its pretty naive to think that prostitudes are in it for sex.

I say yes on the expectation that it would be regulated and such. And also because it's their body, they can sell it if they want to.

But I personally think it's cheating at life. Ya' know? Most people have to work hard to set up a relationship and ultimately keep a healthy sex life. So I really don't see the point in just paying a chick (or a dude, if that's your thing) to have sex with you. It's all of the reward without any of the work or human affection.

Most of these people aren't enjoying themselves anyways, I'd imagine.

In the attributed words of one of my favourite fictional characters ever.

You are always going to have crime, so it might as well be organised.
Bring prostitution within the jurisdiction of the law and watch a lot of the associated problems disappear.

(Probably Ninja'd, buuuuut...)

Yes, it should be legal. As should Marijuana. They should both be treated like Alcohol is.

If prostitution is legalised and regulated, then the government could prevent various diseases spreading and offer support to those who need it. It could also be taxed, which is a bonus for the Government.

While it isn't something I feel right doing, I believe it's completely subjective. I don't believe that it should be illegal because I personally wouldn't do something. Some people have weird fetishes. Just because I don't share them doesn't mean it should be illegal.

And does it affect you? If I married my sister, how does this harm you in any way? Talk about "victimless."

Its legal here in Canada. As long as they have a system in place to keep clients and 'entertainers' healthy and safe and not pregnant or spreading STIs then why not? Its not like its hurting anyone if they do it in that case. Except for the guys and girls who cheat. It doesn't hurt anyone except them. If they're caught.

Yes, on the condition that it is strictly regulated. I believe that this is a case where the potential to restrict the spread of disease outweighs the philosophical concerns involved, and this is best accomplished through control, not opposition.

As for age 21 or over only.
EDIT: Im from States and here its pretty much illigal for most part should of added that
Yes, I believe prostitution should be legal. However, for that to work, there would need to be a prostitute Union to represent them to management for the purposes of fair pay and treatment.

For instance, even in the legal parts of the US (mostly Nevada) the legal prostitutes aren't actually treated that well. Their working conditions are crappy, and pay isn't very good - good benefits, though. Still, a strong Union means fair representation, which means better conditions and protection for the workers.

I'd like to see prostitution become a noble profession again. So yes, I say legalize it - but only with representation to protect the individuals who choose that career.

No street walking. Licenced brothels only. Must have security. Regular government checkups to ensure the girls are not being forced into it, are using proper protection and are not all drug fucked. Monthly STD tests.

As long as those rules are followed to ensure both their and the customers safety then there is absolutely no reason not to allow it.
Essentially this. Legalisation and checking would really cut down on the number of illegal/abusive operations running around the world.

Though I still wouldn't use it.

The victims would be you and your sister. It comes into the category of indulging a mental illness instead of treating it. Like telling someone who has schizophrenia to try and get on with the voices in their heads.

The entire purpose of physical attraction in human's is to choose a "mate". We know that an overwhelming number of the population find the thought of having sex with a family member utterly detestable, because the healthy human psyche doesn't see family members as viable mates. This is for genetic reasons, more likely to have mentally/physically ill children.

This means that the psyche that becomes physically attracted to a family member is unhealthy and is in need of treatment, not encouragement.

It's your body. You can do with it what you want. (With the exception of blowing yourself up in the vicinity of other people.)
