I don't care, really. It'll be fine if exploitation's avoided, and it's all very professional and the girls/men want to be involved in the industry.

Whoever voted "[You're] sick and sexist" is sexist, who says prostitutes can only be women? (and who are you to tell women what they can and cannot do sexist pigs?)

How about getting a REAL job?
What makes you think it isn't a real job??
What qualifications do you need? Why should I consider becoming a prostitude? Is there really a calling for this type of job? Hows the competation against other forms of paid or free sex services?

Convince me to become prostitude, please.
Why?

Should I try to persuade you to become an accountant or something too?

Do you need qualifications to work at Macdonalds? Or in a checkout queue?

Why do people consider sweeping streets or collecting garbage?

Is there really a calling for sewer cleaners?

See... I can do it too. It's just a job. You know - providing a service in exchange for money. Just like all the rest of us do. Except those on welfare, of course. Are you on welfare? Is that why you need a job?
So, if theres no other jobs available, I should just become a prostitude then? Thats really what you want your goverment to tell you?
Well... I suppose you could grow up a bit, give up on the archaic, quasi-religious zealotry and actually explain why you have a problem with it in a rational and thought out manner. Or is that asking too much, hmm?

I've explained why I'm all for legalising and regulating it. How about you explain why you're totally opposed to it?
Because it seems like you people are trying to find a solution to a problem by trying to encourage one of the consequences of the problem.

And lessen the rebellious tolerance crap. This is not a quest for tolerance on prostitution.

Edit:*Sigh* I probably should mention that I have nothing against prostitudes or act of prostitution. I just think you people are defending it with bad reasoning.

What problem?? You haven't provided any reason, or any evidence to support your claims that there is a problem!

But, you know what? There IS a problem... the problem is judgemental retards trying to rule absolutely everybody else and force them to comply with whatever THEY think "appropriate" behaviour is.

How about we start addressing that problem, hmm? It's a way bigger issue than prostitution!

It's religious tolerance, by the way... and you still haven't provided any evidence to support your claims that there shouldn't be tolerance for prostitution.

Guess what. We call that intolerant zealotry around these parts. I should know.

I think prostitution should be legal, but you should need a prostitution license. It's better if government's bureaucracy controls everything instead of the pimps and human traffickers.

If it's regulated well then there's absolutely no reason for it not to be legal, it'd actually be beneficial in many ways.

I can't help but feel that the only reason it's illegal in the first place is because it's a bit of a taboo subject. Or too many people are assuming the stereotype that prostitutes are always drugged up, half dressed and hang around on street corners.

It can be legalized as long as their are regulations. Such as having the workers take regular health exams to avoid spreading diseases.

The risk of legalizing prostitution is that people will exploit women through the framework of the laws.
How so? Also, there are male prostitutes as well. Don't forget that.

DISCLAIMER: I realize this is a double post. Still, if I edited my original post the person I quoted wouldn't receive a message that I've responded to their post.
Well, if the laws were not written well, women could be forced into prostitution through exterior means, or trafficked women could be exploited. I basically mean that there would need to be checks and balanced to ensure no one is exploited.

You obviously don't venture too far into the depths of the internet.

Yes it should this would keep prostitutes safer, allow us to make money off of them, and decrease the spread of std's.

Because everyone thinks its morally wrong.
Well what about letting black people go to the same washroom as right people? I could say thats morally wrong, if I was raised in that time period. My point is that morality changes and you can't use it alone as an excuse to limit something like this. If its normal to do things one way that doesn't inherently mean you should never change it.

Most people just plain don't like it, or don't want to admit that they'd use those services. It seems like a man "failed" to get sex from women normally so he has to pay the loser fee. Again morality and norms.

I can imagine that women won't be in favour of it. The mentality that they trade sex for money is somehow "beating the system" is in their mind maybe??? I can't say as I'm not a women. A woman expects to be treated like a lady and that means to burn money on her, for the eventual reward of sex. Making prostitution legal could affect this negatively? No guys to pay women for the CHANCE of sex, if you can get it more directly somewhere else?
That's just a theory, even I doubt this.

It won't ever be legalized because most members of government are.. too ashamed or embarassed to press this issue? Its like "why do YOU want it to be legal? Having problems getting girls? LOL" so people just throw shaming words at each other instead of addressing the issue. You can see the same thing with marijuana.

Provided it's regulated and given proper oversight, I don't see why it shouldn't be legal. Hell, a good number of the problems associated with prostitution are a direct result of the fact that it's a criminalized, fringe trade. Its illegality is really just a cultural artifact, the appendix of legislated morality. Most contemporary first-world societies have progressed to the point where that's no longer needed.
