I'm a-not into homebrew. Can't even do it.

It seems a strong push to PS3 for me if they're going to release PSP titles onto the PS2 anyway, since then I can play them as well. Which actually raises another question.

I've heard that the XBox360 backwards compatability is a load of bullshit and chips, and then I go on wikipedia which says that about half the games aren't compatible, while it says that some models of the PS3 (I'm getting one of those "some") are compatible with PS2 games. I'm tempted to assume that it's all, but is that right? Especially since PS2 games are available through the PS store.

But like I said, the couple of exclusives to it are good enough to warrant me to get it (can't think of exclusives for the other systems that'd make me buy them), which is pretty much R&C and MGS4. Unchartered too, but that's not a priority. Besides, a lot of the games I'm interested in are cross platform anyhu: Devil May Cry 4 (although I'm not big on it), Assassins Shh, Beyond Good And Evil 2, RE5, The Sims 3 (although I'm not sure how good it can be at this point, especially since I'll have to blow something like a couple hundred bucks to get every damn thing), Spyro (bout time, too), Silent Hill Homecoming, Penny Arcade (or maybe not), etc.

Plus, I've got a decent PC for all the other things.

If you get the ps3 you get an actual Ratchet and Clank game. If you get a psp you get punched in the balls.
Yeah I have a PSP, I regret buying it now, most games that come out for it I can buy for my PS3, same price but better graphics. Although if you are going to buy a PSP you should buy on of the older ones, as they are the PSP equivalent of the PS2 slim (I dunno if that was the real name but it was something along those lines), and get at least a 1gb memory card.

you should get the PS3 it can do anything the PSP can do except fit in your pocket :p
Then you haven't seen the size of my pockets :p

Anyway... The PSP has some great games (Castlevania Dracula X w/ SotN, Dragon Ball Z, FFTactics, Wipeout...) but the PS3 is just better. I have both, and it's nice being able to DL old PS1 games to the PSP. Now I can play the only 3 REAL crash bandicoot games wherever I go.

Edit: You can get SotN on the PS3 store btw.

From your first post it sounds like you've already made up your mind on the PS3, but you just need to justify/confirm it to yourself.

Hence, I'd say get the PS3.

Search eBay for a PS3... I got one for $300 and got a warranty through Square Trade for $40, so I saved about $60 total compared to in-store, plus I got a free game with it.

the thing with psp is that its an incredibly useful portable device with its wi-fi connectivity and the bonuses you get with that like web browsing etc. problem is my country has virtually no wi-fi ANYWHERE so i just use it to play music because the day i buy an ipod is the day i die inside

EDIT: i do agree that all games ive played on it so far have not been up to scratch (Tekken was ok) but im more of a pc gamer anyway

PS3. I love my PSP but if you don't want the Portable part of the PSP nor do you want homebrew its hard to recommended (I'm guessing you have an iPod or something).

hmm it's tough, both have their high points

ps3 is pretty kick ass, great games, great console and can do a lot of cool things with it

psp is fun too, even more fun with ps3 remote play, there is a ratchet and clank and a secret agent clank bundle out there, tho i like my god of war red one

really depends on what you want. tho it is true a lot of the psp games are sent to the ps2, which some ps3s can play

i loved my psp cause i was stuck in hotels for the past 2 weeks and couldn't play my psp, but now i'm home, i'm going to play some little big planet :)

If you want a Portable Gaming Machine, get a Nintendo DS.

Unless your into Homebrew, then an unshaking vote for the PSP.

If you want a solid console, can't go wrong with a PS3.

@insectoid: Yeah, I was actually leaning a little to the PS3, but now I think I'm more towards it, since there's little reason for me to get a system other than for gaming.

@darrenwright: Love to, but I don't think I can get stuff online. It'll appear on a bill

@Indigo_Dingo: On wikipedia, I'm looking at the 80GB NTSC which has emulation and also OH SHIT IT JUST WENT OUT OF PRODUCTION I HAVE TO GET ONE SOON!

@Solo508: Nah, I'm happy with my PC. Plus, it's a laptop, so not so easy, boink.

Sorry about this @ thingy, it's just that I can't quote on the escapist website for some reason. Anyway, yeah, I think I'm pretty solid on the PS3 now. Me birthday's in a months time, so I'll probably get some cash from friends or something.

Actually, quote me at above: the PS3 80GB NTSC has gone out of production, so now the only ones in production have no PS2 compatability. But considering that it's not exactly flying off shelves, I should be able to get one, right? Whaddyou guys think? I wouldn't mind the 60GB NTSC one, either.

Oh yes, that's right, I forgot. How does the card thing work? That is, I don't want to use a credit card and prefer the Playstation card method. Can I just walk into a store and buy it, then use the code to get my cash online?
