Okay.
Unless I hear it?s a total travesty or buggier than a meth head, I?m probably getting Portal 2.
I was just going to get it for the PC but with a free PC version coming with the PS3 version, I figure I?ll get that even though I?m probably going to just play it on the pc.

My question for the ps3 owners: are you nervous about the quality of the ps3 version of this game?
I ask because up until last E3, every representative from Valve complained about how hard it is to make games for the ps3. We haven?t even seen a game of theirs on the ps3 since the Obox. As a ps3 owner, I?m well aware of what it?s like to get the inferior version of a multiplatform game: the most recent bane of my ps3 was Fallout New Vegas which came out half a year ago, has been patched a few times, and still doesn?t work. Are you worried Portal 2 might end up like that or do you think they finally got their minds around the ps3 architecture?
I am getting Portal 2 for the PS3. You can't really compare Fallout, a HUGE open world game stuffed with content to Portal, a linear shooter that doesn't have an emphasis on explosions and bullets every millisecond.
BTW, have you tried Dead Money? It's actually pretty good, and it blew my mind that there was not a SINGLE crash or glitch beyond basic clipping issues on the PS3 version.
Oh yes, I understand that there is a huge difference and I wouldn't expect P2 to have nearly as many problems but I've also played some very linear games that were obviously gimped out on the ps3.

I tried Dead Money on a friend's 360 after it first came out. I have to say I wasn't that impressed and he didn't have the same (glitch free) experience you did. I loved Fallout 3 (my fav for this gen) and got a few of the dlc packs for that but I think I'll skip the FNV expansions. If any of them are really amazing, I'll probably end up getting goty for the pc so I can get mods and things too. Lately, when I need a Fallout fix, I've been playing 3 or 2.

I suddenly feel a lot better that the only reason I bought the PS3 version of Portal was to get the PC version for free too. In answer to the OP's question, I'm not worried in the slightest, because if it doesn't work out on the console, at least I can make it work out with my PC.

Just played through the entire campaign on PS3 with no problems. Great graphic detail, no fps issues etc.

Umm, I'm guessing you didn't see this, or don't remember it.

If anything 360 owners should be worried.
Yeah, did anyone see this post I made?

This thread has no issue since the man himself said the PS3 version would >> the 360 in front of the entire gaming world.

You're only buying the gimped version when you buy the 360 version.

Plus, I hear the PS3 version has a copy for PC, what is the problem here?

I don't mind or care. Still gonna run thru that burning building to get it. They might complain that ps3 portal 1 wasn't as tight or great as the pc/xbox version, but whatever it did wrong, I obviously didn't notice and still loved it.

Now to stock up on anti-burn cream. Just in case arson does happen.
Why does the europe release date have to be later? Gonna have to stay off the internet to keep away from spoilers.

I believe Valve will not mess this up, when they make something, they do a good job. Except the Orange Box, I have no idea why they did such a shitty job porting that over.

It?s not a problem for me; it?s the reason I (personally) am not worried.
Actually, it really works out well for me because my wife wants to play it with the pad and I want to play it with the mouse.

But before the announcement of the ps3/pc version, I was just going to get the pc version. I know that Gabe fellow said the ps3 version would be great but everything he said before that clip made it sound like the ps3 terrified him. He would always talk about how the ps3 was too hard to make games for and this is the first Valve game since then. So naturally, this is their chance to prove themselves. I?m just curious about the level of optimism which (amongst gamers) always seems to be higher than common sense would normally allow.

Really? Well, I?m not worried about the quality but now I?m worried about the length. Didn?t it only come out this morning?

And thanks to everyone else who?s been playing and assuring us that it?s tight.

I just picked it up and am looking forward to getting home.

Well it's Valve's first time designing for the PS3 so they're pretty much unknowns, they're good on pc and 360 though so let's hope they're as good on PS3.

Edit - Fallout New Vegas is broken? It's ok for me, freezes in one area of Freeside every hour or so but from what I've heard the game freezing is a problem on all consoles.

Went down to my local store asking if they would be releasing at the same time as steam, and the guy told me that the release date had been broken. So I had mine at 11am on the day before release.

About the length, I think it was fine. Spent about 9 hours, but then im not the fastest puzzle solver and I spent some time looking for Easter eggs, and found a few :)
