I have no idea which is more secure, and it would be pointless to speculate without the benefit of knowledge regarding the 3 systems, sony's recent trouble was caused by them deciding that they wouldn't let some douchebag hack the ps3, so that they basically could play pirated games on it, and post how to do it online, so they sued him which meant that hackers decided that they wouldn't stand for it and started what i like to call the "fuck sony" bandwagon which people have since jumped on and have found holes in sony's security. since the others have not had a hacker-based jihad put on them ,for doing something that they are perfectly entitled to do, it is impossible to tell if the others have similar security issues, but i suspect that they do.

I would think the Wii has the best security, in that noone cares about breaking it.

Who knows if MS has better security than Sony.. It´s all speculation yes?
I vote we don´t try to find out.

I'm sure just about anything can be hacked. Sony was just the target. Speculation based on what you've seen, what console you prefer isn't fair. Unless you know..u code firewalls for either company.

How is PS3 getting any votes at all?
Lets say somebody tried to break into Fort Knox, and got in, but nobody has ever tried to break into your house, so it has never been broken into. Does that mean that your house has better security than Fort Knox does? No.

Just because nobody has bothered to hack the 360 like they did the PS3, doesn't mean the PS3 has the worst security. Maybe they tried to hack it because it did have the best security.

Unless we all hacked each system, we do not know. They could have hacked sony because it was easy, or because it was a challenge, so that doesn't really apply to this debate.

None of us are really qualified to discuss this topic.
Then that's very sad, I mean I would expect a place mainly about gaming to know something about this.
I know next to nothing and I know more than this.
I'm sorry, but how can you say Microsoft a company that is based on computers would have worse security than Sony guys? The answer is they can't, anything can be hacked if it's can be hacked within a certain time. But that's the hard part.

As someone who works in IT security for a living - anything can be hacked - anything

Sony is just under the scope right now. If these same people focused on MS - you wouldn't have XBLive access right now.

Anyone who blames Sony for this is kinda like blaming a homeowner cause hit shit got stolen. He may of had an alarm system and a killer dog - but he didn't set up a spike trap so it is all the homeowner's fault.

But for gamers who always have some bias toward a console it provides much lolz for the never ending console flame wars

As some have already stated, how the hell are we supposed to know?

There is room for speculation i guess. For one, the wii probably does not need as much security as the other two, because, from what I can gather, their online component is not as popular as PSN or Xbox Live.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure anybody that did something that a group of hackers took as an affront would be totally boned. Hard to say which one is more secure, but it is easy to say that microsoft is better friends with hackers than sony is, at the moment.

Microsoft actually pays hackers daily to improve their defenses.
I can't see sony doing that to be honest.

They all have hackable security.. nothing is safe
It's true, but think about effort for a second.
It took a single injection to hack a major database of sony and none of the info was encrypted.
I have heard stories and claims about Microsoft being uncrackable and even inviting people to try and having them fail each time along with many failsafes and the fact that the entire network doesn't go down.... I would prefer 360's security.
uh-hu, and the 360 was chipped within a few months of being released while it took 6 years to root the PS3. What does this show? absolutely fucking nothing, because you can't make an argument from one random piece of data.

OP: the sony hack happened because of the massive DDOS attacks on their servers, when you have such a decentralized mass of retards wielding low orbit ion canons it's a lot easier to pull something like this without being traced, that an a DDOS attack makes the system that much more vulnerable. If we saw a mass scale DDOS on XBL maybe then you could draw some security comparisons, but as it stands both systems are black boxes with no point of reference to each other.
Actually we sorta do.
I hear far more hacking reports in games for ps3 than the 360.
Microsoft updates their firewalls every week and 360 was built to be more hack proof.
