I just got Psychonauts and I was wondering how people felt about the game. I realize this topic isn't exactly new and ground breaking, but I'm interested so tell me anyway.

I heard about it through a gaming magazine, probably EGM. I got for this past Christmas and it is simply excellent. The story is loads of fun, as are the characters and the, thankfully, so is the gameplay. I realize it doesn't really do anything new but it's just oh so much fun. Did I mention it was fun? Anyway, best game I've played in a long while.
I bought it on the day it was released because of some good stuff an employee at the Game Stop I go to had to say about it. It's one of my favorite games of all time now, story-wise. The Gogolor and Milkman levels in particular were hilarious, in my opinion.
There is a PC version, available in stores and off Steam. Go for the XBox version if you want the definitive version or the Steam version if you don't want to pay GameStop (but you'll be paying extra).Spleenbag said:
On that note, I actually heard about this game through a G4 special about the making of the game, and knew it would be awesome.
i actually heard about the game from my girlfriend, i guess she played it in her previous relationship... but she told me she loved it, and i eventually bought it for her a few weeks later. she said i should play it, although hesitant at first, i watched her play it a few times and sometime later gave it a shot myself and loved it (but i still don't really want to play "katamari damacy" that much)
I feel a little sheep-like for saying this, but Yahtzee's review pretty sums up exactly what I felt about Psychonaughts.
In my defense, I did play the game before he reviewed it, but I agreed with pretty much everything he said. The Artistic design was cool, the characters were AWSOME-especially the dialog, which is something that seems to be a major problem in games these days,- the voice acting was pretty good, and the story kept me interested all the way through.
Of course, there was that absurdly difficult first level in the Meat Circus, grr... Hate that stupid kid and his propellor cap. Why does he think flying AWAY from me will make him safer.
Aha! I knew there was something I thought that Yahtzee didn't say. I took slight issue with the power ups. After about 50 or so as I recall, your Psi level basically just gave you new ways to vaporize the legions of mukes that really posed much of a threat anyway.

I've just downloaded it from Xbox Live and heard about it a long time ago when it was released. It was virtually impossible to find here (I live in New Zealand) and I was on the fence about it, so I never picked it up.
I'm glad it has a second lease of life though, especially since so many people went past it first time around.
