Just out of curiosity, how many of you have actually fired a gun? I'm not talking about in a video game or paintball guns but actual firearms. What is your opinion on them? I have a strong interest in firearms and have only fired a gun once which was a 16 gauge bolt-action shotgun. Let's not make this into a debate on whether guns are good or bad but rather your experiences or lack of with firearms.

Oh yes, cookie for whoever gets the reference to the title.

I have a couple. Partially a collector, partially a sport shooter. I love them, but safety is always first, and as such, I have a large, expensive safe to keep them all in.

I don't own any, but have spent a week shooting evil-crop-eating birds with both a really old single shot 12 gauge and a pump action riot style 12 gauge.

Great fun.

Edit: Also went (rifle) target shooting with my friend who does it semi-professionally. Not as fun as shooting birds.

I have on several occasions. I shoot skeet, and have a small colection of guns that has been built up over time from buying them and receiving them by gift.

I have, as part of merit badge classes at Boy Scout summer camps. Shooting shotguns is much more fun than shooting .22 rifles, but I have more experience with the latter.

But neither I nor my family owns any firearms.

When I was younger, our summer camp had various activities you could sign up for. One was an outdoorsy sort of thing that divided time between playing games in the woods (hide and seak, capture the flag, just building tree houses, that sort of thing), archery, and riflery. I tried the rifle all of twice, and promptly swapped my time with it with some boy for his time on the archery range. I enjoy a longbow in my hands far more.

I've fired a few, but not many and not often. My dad has an FFL and is licensed to sell guns, so he orders and ships them for his clients, and always has a few in storage that he can sell on the spot if he wants. I don't own any personally, mostly because I'm not yet of legal age, but even when I am old enough I doubt I'll get one. That would require an extra investment of both money and time, for the equipment and the education/licensing to keep it. It's just an extra hassle I don't think I'll be needing just yet.

Yes, I've owned and still own Shotguns, both 12 Bore (or gauge if you're American) and both Over/ Under. I loves 'em. i mainly use them for clay shooting - sporting clays and Skeet, both of which I enjoy, unlike DTL :p

I've also fired a Semi-Auto 12 Bore, and a .177 Air Rifle.

I'd like to fire some proper Centerfire rifles, but the chances are slim here in the UK, unless you've got a fair bit of money, which being a student, I dont :p

I've fired plenty of paintball guns, and an air rifle, but never a proper firearm. I would like to, though. It's one of those manly things that is just awesome despite being pretty useless in everyday life.

Pointless. If people could find their jollies elsewhere, there'd be less firearms in circulation. The way I'm politically inclined, that's a good thing.

Yes, fairly often and I sometimes get paid for doing so. However, my current geographical location and financial situation has pretty much stripped me of the few firearms I did own. I'm left with a few knives and a Mossberg 500 with a couple different barrels.

I'm the resident gun nut, even amongst my fellow cadets, and I'm the first person everybody looks to when it comes to raw knowledge.

All of that being said, I'm not perfect. Different makes of AKs are still a little blurry to me and advanced ballistics is still mostly black magic. But I'm working on it.
