I've never fired a gun.
After the bruises my dad got from firing some kind of shotgun, I don't think I want to. Because my dad's tough. I'm a wuss.
My freakin arm'd fly off.

A pistol. Blank round, I was assured it would feel like firing the real thing.

I somehow doubt that, but whatever. Why use a gun when I can use a bow and me mitts :p

The mass of the actual round is so small that the recoil is pretty much identical. If you're firing older blanks with older weapons, there's some crap that's slightly different, but a non-expert would be hard-pressed to differentiate on most modern firearms.

Shotgun, hefty kick, but I enjoy shooting targets. Wouldn't mind hunting. But until then, Airsoft. With man. THE DEADLIEST PREY OF ALL.

Let's see, Mosin Nagant w/ and w/o scope (hit targets at 50 and 100 meters)7.62x54mmR, M14 with iron sights (50 meters)7.62x51mm, .22 carbine (50 meters), .22 bold action w/ and w/o scope (50 and 100 meters), 12 gauge pump action shotgun (50 meters), .380 pistol (50 meters), .44 Magnum (50 meters), and I'm pretty sure that the gun I tried out at a demo was an M15A1 varient of some sort (100 and 300 meters, landed all three rounds into a dinner plate sized target, my first time at 300 meters, I was really impressed with it)5.56, don't know the exact dimensions.

I like shooting guns. It's not even the power behind them or the satisfaction of sending the bullet exactly where you want it to go. It's the raw adrenaline and getting better every time. I've made some pretty good shots even though I've only shot guns a handful of times. Even some of the military guys were impressed when they found out I've only been shooting half a dozen times. XD

I have fired guns, not at a range but just some fucking around when I vacationed down south in America. It was a 12 gauge shotgun, and some Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol (I still have the spent casings)

When You first fire a gun, you will be caught off guard by how fucking loud it is. After just three shots my ears were ringing, and that was just the 9mm. The Shotgun was just too much, my ears were just ringing for the rest of the day. Get hearing protection when you shoot a gun.

Yup, started young with my dad's Lee-Enfield 303, moved all the way up to a few years of military service and police college. Fired my share of small arms, loosed a few Carl-G's and nearly took my own head off with a grenade because at the last minute I was told I was required to do a left handed throw since I am left handed, what they didn't know is that I only write with my left hand and my right hand is my dominant throwing hand.

I miss the sound of the bolt assembly and recoil spring in my C7. I should just re-enlist and give up on my dream of being a game developer.

during my time at the Bundeswehr

G3 (my favorite weapon; accurate, reliable and packs a punch), G36, MG3 (on bipod and tripod), MP2 (UZI), P1, P8 and Panzerfaust 3 (if it counts).

I also got my hands on a few civilian guns and some muzzle-loaders from a buddy who is a member in an historical gun club.

Ah, the infamous "Shooter's Bruise". Commonly and often incorrectly associated with recoil intensive weapons. "Shooter's Bruise" is more often than not the result of poor posture when firing. Either the person has not tucked the weapon into their shoulder enough, or they may have a loose grip on it.

I did some skeet shooting with a 12 gauge, and shooting at a target with a cheap little .22 when I was in Boy Scouts, and I've always wanted to try a handgun or something really fun, like an assault rifle. I've been thinking about going down to a local range but I can't find one/am too lazy.

First gun I fired was a revolver in the mountains at around maybe 12. Loud as all hell the first time you hear one. It was pretty cool.

Um...

No.

The recoil produced by blanks varies, but for rifle rounds, it is easily noticeable. They can, in automatic and semi-automatic weapons, cause an extremely large amount of loading errors.

In fact, to attempt to recreate the recoil of real rounds, the military has to put on muzzle breaks to give the propellent fired something to push back on.

While I may be inclined to believe that the recoil of blanks in pistols could possibly be similar to the real thing, rifles and the like are not even close.

On all the weapons I've fired there is a noticeable difference. Granted, moreso in sound than feel, but there is a difference in both.

The only weapons I've fired blank are L98A2s with Blank Firing Attachments (or not, when loaded with live rounds), and I personally can't distinguish. Then again, since I tend to be wearing ear defenders at the time, I can't comment on the sound too accurately.
