Well, I just unsubcribed from WoW, and I will be playing SW:TOR when it comes out. So I suppose the answer is yes, though I quit WoW for other reasons than TOR. Even Cataclysm isn't even boosting my interest in WoW anymore so I figured it was time. And as you can see from my avatar I do so enjoy the Star Wars-universe.

TOR is looking interesting so far too. Shame they haven't released the races available yet, as I'm at least hoping I'll be able to play a Twi'lek Smuggler. The head-tails amuse me greatly, for some reason. Would like to try a Sith of some description too, but so far looking at the gameplay videos of the different classes they have up, only the bounty hunter peaks my interest.

I have faith in BioWare though. I doubt they'll screw it up.

TOR won't kill WoW. Ain't no way, ain't no how.

That said, I'll be there launch day. You can play BOTH, you know :p
BLASPHEMY! ;)

OT: I don't play WoW anymore, since most of my friends stopped I had no reason to stay.

But I am definately going to play The Old Republic.

Last time Bioware and Star Wars met it was amazing. So I'm exited as all hell :D

I play to play ToR when it comes out, but if you try telling Bioware that they are building a WoW beater they will hate you for eternity, they said themselves there goal is not to beat WoW but to establish there place in the MMO market.

Actually just started playing WoW again, got invited back for 7 free days, I know it sounds bad but I like how they made it easier to play if you don't want to invest hours a day. But I've been looking forward to SWTOR for awhile now, then again the APB Beta was pretty fun too.

I may play it from release, but I won't just give up WoW for it. Especially since *every* big game that people have said is going to kill WoW has now failed on that front. Notable ones being Age of Conan, Warhammer and Aion, which was supposed to be *THE* WoW killer...

In the end, it just may be a mix of Warhammer, WoW, and TOR for me. Though I may wait on TOR until it has proper reviews from friends who likely will get it at release.

I quit WoW a awhile ago when Lich King came out then the game just kept going downhill , Pre-TBC was the best! So I have been looking for a MMO for awhile and tried Warhammer and Aion but didn't really like either so I can't wait for SWTOR! Looks very good so far.

I really want a good Sci-Fi MMO (I can't stand EvE...mining resources just isn't fun to me).

But, I really enjoy WoW, and so will probably play both at launch, or wait until I hear good/bad things about TOR.

You can lapse your wow membership for a month while you focus on star wars,

but if history is any lesson, you'll be back eventually.

At least someone is trying to do a MMO on a topic other than high fantasy, without attempting to just replicate WoW gameplay WIF LAZARZ

Yea um, here is the thing. Not all WoW players are morons, and the server I am on I have yet to see anyone with the whole Gearscore fiasco thing going on. My guild personally does not care for it at all, we have actually turned down people with a high gearscore for people with realtively low gearscore only because those with higher were not always better. And the people who DO want only high gearscore are those that most of us older players despise and we older players try to help the new people in the game to get away from that crowd.
I'm glad you've got a good guild, but I played WoW for four years and across half a dozen servers, I found 3 guilds in all that time that didn't descend into idiotic drama at some point. Yes, there are smart and kind WoW players, but over the years they have got increasingly more rare, to the point where for the last six months any attempt at a pug anything was nearly unbearable. And I'm not talking about people who are bad at the game, just people who acted like complete shit heads whenever everything didn't go exactly as they wanted it. I really don't want that in ToR
Anyways, SW:ToR will have just as many morons in WoW. You cannot escape the fact. In all the MMO's that I have played there is always that ONE group of morons that make the game look bad, WoW is just more popular than others so it is overshadowing that fact.
True, and while I wouldn't say for certain that WoW has a higher percentage of jackasses than other MMO's, they certainly are more noticeable. And I didn't mean that ToR wouldn't have jerks and morons playing, of course it will. I just hope that the community can come together in a mature way as a majority, unlike WoW.

Anyways I am bad with words. What I am trying to get at is this: All MMO games have a group or multiple groups of morons. You cannot escape this fact.
Agreed, but I'm just hoping that they will be a small, or at least quiet minority in ToR.

HA! Yea I was there, Pre-BC was fucking terrible. While, yes, there were less morons raiding it was also boring as shit and WoW has only been getting better. You cannot honestly say that Molten Core was fun, can you? I mean it was so fucking bland it wasnt even funny. The best part of Vanilla was the AQ event and that was the only memorable part of it.
The game itself has certainly become more polished, which was my point above. WoW was already a greatly designed game, and just got better with each expansion. The community however, quickly deteriorated. Both on all the servers I played on and the community at large (namely the forums).

I just sincerely hope, because ToR is so storyline focused, that a lot of the jerkasses from WoW will stay where they are.

i gave up on WoW a while ago, but i will probably play SW:TOR. that is until the game degenerates into running into jedi or sith over and over.

i really don't see how Bioware plans to combat that. given the choice between jedi or smuggler, which to you pick? jedi or trooper? sith or imperial agent?

about the only other class that seems appealing to me versus the jedi/sith is bounty hunter. so maybe you will see a few of those running around as well.

an MMO of just jedi / sith would be most unappealing to me.
