Probably because it gives a definitive sign that people have actually read and noticed your post. If you don't get quoted, it can feel a bit like every human being skimmed over your post without noticing, rather than somebody reading it, thinking 'huh, that makes sense' and moving on. It's nice to have a little moment of recognition now and then.

Thats exactly how i feel sometimes, especially when i've actually put some thought into the post, but it might be because i don't post that often.

Haha, well I've only started posting recently, so I love it, plus I have yet to be quoted by someone who just wanted to disagree/argue. It's always nice to know that people are reading your posts

Join user groups -> get a bazillion notifications. People like me are why they invented the auto-delete function on the inbox.

Depends on the reason why. If they're quoting me to agree with something I said or add onto a point I made, then that's all good fun. If they're correcting me or criticising me, oh God why.

I got so many messages from saying WoW is the first MMO because I wasn't thinking at the time I edited my topic to say I GET IT YOU CAN MOVE ON FROM MY LITTLE MISTAKE NOW. well that was the implied message the actual edit was probably more polite.
on topic: Yes I do love to be quoted. I always get a little thrill when i see that yellow mail envelope.

Yes and no. It's nice to be acknowledge, but at the same time, when I get quoted, my first thought is always that someone got mad at one of my posts and wants to berate me.
