Yeah BTW I upgraded the Ps3 with a 500GB HDD, which I want to keep, and I went to the store today and if I wanted a new one they said all they had was the slim version, so I asked if it was possible to change the harddrive on that one aswell, they claimed it was possible, however a new Ps3 would erase all the data and then, when I put in the new harddrive, it's going to ask me to install a new update, I've done this before obviously, however I changed back to the 80GB in the "broken" ps3 and it asked for the update 3.56, and when I downloaded it, put it on a USB it and tried to install it, it said "the data is corrupted" and that was it, I thought "well I'll send it to Sony and they'll deal with it", however if this will go on with a new Ps3 and with the 500GB HDD then... I won't be able to play games at all anyway :/ And whyyyy do I have to install my games again even though I've backed up the old data? D:

A short memorial to my Ps3 which there is no hope for anymore... He was awesome. Now a silent minute... Done.

So my Ps3 has gone and.... well not died per say but it grinds games to dust and my warranty is no good anymore. So it's pretty much bye bye... Anyway, this is the second Ps3 to break on me, possibly the third, and this one I've had since late 2008. Now, I take good care of my consoles, never drop them or anything, try to keep dust away and so on. However how is this possible? I understand that the Ps3 failure rate is low and ps3's are built to last...? Atleast longer than about 2-3 years? So what's going on, am I unlucky, cursed or is the Ps3 more fragile than Sony would make it out to be?

Also, I'm either going to send it in and get a used one for 200 euro, or get a new one for 400 euros, and before you answer, if I don't get one now I'm going to be very bored next week waiting for a new one because I'm free next week! D: However if I get one for 400 I might not afford anymore games until the summer

Sony don't make their PS3's very well. I bought my first PS3 in 2007, (60GB). Since then, I have lost three of them, and I'm currently on my fourth one. All of them were 60GB's, so I suppose the fault lies in that model. You're not unlucky; it's certainly not your fault either if you've been looking after them!

Ok here's the update, I just got a Ps3 slim, everything seems to go according to plan, I will make a small memorial video on youtube soon dedicated to sex-machine^^ also, wasn't that expensive!

Our PS3 has been going strong since they were released.. That's some kinda bad luck. Get a used one if it's cheap enough. Probably just as good.
