I want to know of some junk food from other countries besides the quadruple-bypass that is america. Any country whatsoever. It could be candy. It doesn't even have to taste good, I'm just curious.

I myself had some German chocolate and it is teh bomb.

"We were invited to to Poland!" if I'm not mistaken. Nice reference (if it was meant as one) to...that other thread. Don't remember the name. "Things you didn't know" maybe?

And I have not.

Yeh, being Australian, you'll always get someone bringing junk food from their place. I remember one time, some friends of mine gave me a drink. It tasted like shit. There's another time when I got some chips from my Chinese friends, and they were nice. 'Course, I've had Banana Chips (they're quite nice), and all the sweets of India (damn, I'm getting hungry).

I had the meatballs from Ikea, you can buy them the Ikea store now. They're really good, but the Swedish chocolate was disappointing.

Although, Indonesian instant noodles called Mi-Goreng are teh shiznit.

It was this chocolate bar from Europe shaped like a triangular prism.

Are you thinking of 'Toblerone'? That's widely available in Australia btw

2 ft by 1 ft Milka bar. It was delicious. I kept it under my bed.
And those Japanese rice crackers; I have those fairly often.

Arh.. wrote a longer comment but lost the internet and the whole post so I'll do it short instead.. can't be bothered

The Belgians have this really crazy fetish with fries. I was in Bruxelles on a studytrip and we went to get some junkfood after having been drunk for a good couple of hours. They had these weird sandwiches with a beef and soft onions with a mountain of fries on top. That was just wierd but pretty ok actually. Fries make great food when your drunnk, so i guess it makes good sense... I just don't get why they serve them on top of the sandwich istead of on the side..

Crazy belgians

It might have been 'Umlat(with two dots above the U)', but I know that's Russian...
If you are talking about "ü", it is a German y, not Russian. However, I am from Norway, and being a friendly neighbor of Russia I have never heard of this Umlat. I think what you ate was Toblerone. If it was a triangular/prism it was most likely Toblerone, which is actually very "famous" in Europe.

Seen the Simpsons episode in the UK, where Bart and Lisa go nuts off all the candy and sweets?

My friend brought me home a heap of British sweets and I nearly had a heart attack.

You must be kidding, "Marabou" is easily the best semi-mainstream chocolate around.

I'm hopelessly addicted to nori (spiced seaweed) wrapped senbei (Japanese rice crackers, coated with a savory/sweet sauce), but at least they're baked (though at the rate I go through them...)

Toblerone is the worst chocolate I've ever had (that I was expecting to be delicious based on packaging and recommendations).

@Uskis: Standard Belgian frites with the cone and little french fry fork are awesome. For the beef thing you were talking about, was it by any chance [a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawarma]Shawarma (spellings vary)[/a]? These things are all over Paris, for one, and it sounds almost similar.

@PurpleRain: My supervisor is Turkish, and they're kind of delicious.

Foreign junk foods:
- Indian Ghee is fascinating, and generally tasty, but after being told how it is made, I'm not sure I could do it again.
- Had some Turkish sweet that is essentially pistachios mushed down (lots of them) and then held together with some sort of butter glue. Little green bricks of VERY concentrated pistachio flavor. Can't remember the name.
- French Lays potato chips, 2 kinds that I fell in love with: Chicken&Thyme, and Bolognaise. Man, how I would love to get access to a supply line for Bolognaise Lays potato chips...
