Wakins prawn flavored chips are my absolute favorite junk food. I'm canadian so they are foreign to me. Whenever my family in the UK comes here to visit, I always make sure they stock up on those for me.
I'm also a big fan of fries/chips in England. There is just something ABOUT them...best ones were from some place in Luton...the name escapes me. If/when I ever go back, I'm sure to gain 20lbs.

When I was in Britain I had this chocolate that had little air pockets in it. I think it was called Aero. Probably the tastiest foreign thing I've ever had.

@ Nilpferbkoenig: were you thinking of stroopwafel? (sp?) The waffle-looking biscuits with a gooey caramel centre that softens up if you put them on the top of a cup of hot drink (rooiboosch tea is a personal favourite, otherwise coffee or normal tea works just as well) are a favourite of mine and I can't go to Belgium or Holland without getting them.

Other favourite foreign junk foods:

Fairy Bread in Oz. That's bread & butter with hundreds & thousands sprinkled on.

Baci in Italy. They've started selling them here now cause Perugina got bought out by Nestle, butthe packaging has changed.

Banana Que in the Philippines. It's like a toffee apple or candy apple but with baby bananas instead. Facking Oresome.

I also love halva, baklava, loukoumades (that's what Turkish Delight is called if you live in a Greek-speaking part of the world, NEVER "Turkish Delight") and most of the sickly-sweet East Mediterranean confections, which go just fine with the ultra-strong unfiltered coffee you get in those parts. Also my cousins gave me something which is apparently a long string of almonds covered in solidified grape juice. Looked really weird but very nice, can't remember the Greek name.

Japan: Those weird desserts made of fresh fruit, shaved ice and syrup.

I must have a sweeter tooth than I thought.

"We were invited to to Poland!" if I'm not mistaken. Nice reference (if it was meant as one) to...that other thread. Don't remember the name. "Things you didn't know" maybe?

And I have not.
That's the one.
That's becomming an Escapist meme now? I like it.
I can think of worse memes to have.

And I'm starting to feel a little lonely, being one of two who have never had any foreign food. Maybe I'm just more selective about what foreign means? I mean I've had Chinese and some Thai, but those were at restaurants and Americanized I do believe, so I don't count those. Plus, lots of candy is basically other countries' candy, but made here, so it's no longer foreign.

I don't know...

It might have been 'Umlat(with two dots above the U)', but I know that's Russian...
If you are talking about "ü", it is a German y, not Russian. However, I am from Norway, and being a friendly neighbor of Russia I have never heard of this Umlat. I think what you ate was Toblerone. If it was a triangular/prism it was most likely Toblerone, which is actually very "famous" in Europe.
It was a Toblerone then.

I think I just heard of Umlat somewhere and heard it was Russian. They may have been misinformed.

And does Escargo count as French junk food? 'Cause I've had that too.
And it was good.

Every Easter since I was a tiny person my uncle in Italy sends me a chocolate egg. It still tastes as good now as it did then ^.^

Also, being Canadian, I have learned to take the presence of ketchup-flavored chips for granted. I have heard they don't exist everywhere, but I've never actually checked.

never really had any foreign junk food, the only ethnic stores in my parts are Polish, in which case I can make it all at home because I am Polish, or Arabic, wherein I generally distrust people who don't eat bacon.

German chocolate in my opinion is overrated. I want Mexican chocolate. Chocolate was invented in mexico and I want the real damn thing, no pansy European milky crap!

I've really gotten into Japanese food lately because this restaurant opened by my house. All I gotta say is the Japanese are the reigning undisputed kings of Steak, raw pieces of meat, and holy god damn their ice cream is amazing.

I had the meatballs from Ikea, you can buy them the Ikea store now. They're really good, but the Swedish chocolate was disappointing.

Although, Indonesian instant noodles called Mi-Goreng are teh shiznit.
I owe my life to mi-goreng, they are keeping me alive in boarding school. 30 cents a pack and taste like triple-wafered heaven.

On the other hand, who knows what ingredients they've got in them, I'd say about a 50% chance of being a carcinogen.

We have a Seafood City store in our town so we can get all kinds of weird foreign food and snacks. One time, we got something from Thailand that was made with seaweed and sesamee seed. Looked weird but wasn't bad. Then there's red bean, green bean, green tea and plum flavored ice cream from China. Ever had chips that tasted like prawns? They have them there. Sari soda pop from Japan is good. It's got a really weird bottle which makes opening it into a sort of puzzle game. Then there's the Japanese gummies with kiwi fruit, those are good. We got some sort of freeze dried berry snack one time. I forget the name but they were made from some fruit I've never even heard of. Very delicate flavor and very unique tasting.

You can get falafel and kebab everywhere here. Not sure if that counts. I also consider most asian food randomly mixed in a cardboard box junk food.
If you want really exotic though... before the burger was truly introduced in Denmark (basically with McD in the 80's), you could only get "beef sandwiches". They came in a lot of styles, but the most bizarre one featured fried onions (like the kind some people put on hotdogs), gravy and pickled beets. You can still get them in some places.

To me, Ben & Jerry's ice cream is extremely exotic (they only started selling it here a few years ago). It's also insanely expensive and mind-numbingly good.

Toblerone is the worst chocolate I've ever had (that I was expecting to be delicious based on packaging and recommendations).

@Uskis: Standard Belgian frites with the cone and little french fry fork are awesome. For the beef thing you were talking about, was it by any chance [a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawarma]Shawarma (spellings vary)[/a]? These things are all over Paris, for one, and it sounds almost similar.
Nono, it wasn't sharwarma, we have that here in copenhagen (and especially the part I live in) as well.. Some really good ones too.. It was more of a big baguette cut open. The they put in a beef (looked like pretty low quality) of the kind you'd find in a burger, sliced in two with some soft onion rings, and then a mountain of frites on top of it all. Literally.. The baguette was rather big and served as a kind of plate for the frites.. A tasty plate you ate after the fries.

My freind got something like it. Only with sausages instead. They called it a "hotdog". But by my standards it was more of a huge slice of baguette with tons of sausage and soft onions, than it was a hotdog. It all tasted pretty good. Frites are especially good when drunk and on the way home.. Lot's of tasty salt :)

Mmmmh, let's bring something Italian in there.
My region is famous for the Bolognese sauce, the mortadella and all that, which are not exactly healty, but the real deal is the "gnocco fritto". It's a basic dough that gets fried in lard and accompanied with everything you can possibly obtain from pork. In Rome there are the "supplì al telefono", which are breaded and fried meat balls with a bit of rice, tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese (alla balled up with the help of an egg, obviously), and in Southern Italy they have something similar called "arancini", which also include peas.
