In pokemon i have put together this team of my favourite pokemon and i was looking forward to battling my friend with them through all the time i spent training them and chaining a shiny ninetales for it. Then my friend pulls a team out of nowhere containing half pokemon trained by a rare candy cheat, not to mention a shiny porygon-Z obtained through cheating.
What has annoyed me about this is that i looked forward to fighting the pokemon of his that i knew and had tried so hard to beat in the past, ones that i know have been trained and obtained using legit methods, and now, he does this. Even using an uber (garchomp).
His excuse is that i wanted a challenge (i said i wanted a good fight, not a challenge) and that he thought i'd enjoy it. It is true that rare candy trained pokemon are weaker than normal, but it doesn't matter to me whether i win or lose, i just think it's a little underhand, and i expected more from this person.

So what are your opinions on this? Do you think i should fight this guy? What do you think of the use of rare candy cheats to train pokemon?

Rare Candy trained Pokemon are not weaker than normal.

It's just a faster way to train, I see no problem with it.

I was pretty sure they are, given that you can't take advantage of EVs.

Well its OK if your only messing with the game by yourself, but i remeber starting a game at the same time as my friend and seeing who could beat it first then battleing against him i would be really pissed off if he did this to me.

I suppose, but I was assuming that he would have done the EVs right away, and basically just used Rare Candies afterwards. If that is the case, then there is no difference. If he Rare Candy trained them from level 1, then yeah, I guess they will be weaker. In which case, just go beat him! =)

EDIT: In my eyes, if it's still legal, (possible to obtain in-game legitimately), then it's fine.

and the team I showed him was a red herring distracting him from an actual surprise pokemon that I am training properly (nature and everything) at this moment, I just didn't think he would get that pissed of at me.
edit: also the 999 rare candies and porygon-z were put on by a friend of a friend without my approval!

Well I have no problem with using Rare Candies, but cheating to obtain said Rare Candies, I think that's a bit underhanded; at least if you intend to play against your friends anyway. Besides, doesn't cheating kinda take the fun outta the game? I know it usually does for me.

The cheating part is pretty weak, and I'm pretty sure I would never battle anyone that cheats in a game like this.

That being said, his guys should be weaker than yours anyways, since you'd be getting EV's on your team while his would have none. Unless he actually took the time to train his pokemon with EV's, but usually that involves battling a LOT which defeats the purpose of using rare candy cheats in the first place. Plus, Im fairly certain only some higher level pokemon give the right EV's, for example I don't think any of the early game pokemon give special attack ev's.

Train up and wipe the floor with him then, you said it yourself " Even though rare candy trained pokemon are weaker than normal", then own him.

He has cheated to get quicker, weaker levels so why not just get slow stronger levels and beat him.

If thats not the issue, what is? If it's that he cheated, he cheated himself when he made weak pokemon.

One thing, if you didn't approve of these rare candies, why do you use them? And why did you 'happen' to be in the trophy garden to obtain that porygon-z? And all the other shinies you happen to own by such a method? Hmmm? Can you answer that?

because I didn't realise he did a cheat for me to get only find shiney pokemon until about 4 battles of shiny pokemon. Then I thought 'hmmm there are some pokemon I would want to see a shiny version of' so I caught a view and then saved the game and turned it on and off so the cheat was gone and I have never actually used the rare candy pokemon in more then one fight and also I did train the garchomp to lv80 before using the rare candies.

Well i was never told that. But the rare candy training still applies to your other pokemon. Plus, how could you not realise? Also, why would you JUST HAPPEN to enter grass. I never enter grass when i'm playing pokemon with a friend because i'm usually battling with them. So i am usually in pokemon center most of the time.

Rare candy training is pointless, as you have to train your pokemon up to a certain point to take advantage of EVs, and i always put a lvl 50 cap on battles so me and my friends could battle on an even battlefield...
