Depends on what your friends have. If the majority of the people you'd play online with have a PS3, then get a PS3. If the majority of the people you'd play online with have a 360, then get a 360.

Other than that, I don't feel qualified to compare the 360 to the PS3 as I've never really played on the 360.

or when kinect comes out, cause god knows kinect is going to be a bust

uhm... yes offense
Don't get me started on Kinect. As Natal I was interested in a potentially interesting technology. Then the name change came and I realised that they were going for the gullible casual khanzumerz. To be honest, the Move is actualy pretty promising. I've played it a few times. And as proven by the PS3, Sony sticks by it's products and exploits their potential and is interested in innovative new games. So I can see the Move being a success. But yeah the Kinect won't sell well at all... I hope. It doesn't deserve it.

Have you got a decent PC? If yes, then PS3.
This basically, the 360 seems too have few exclusives that are really worth it and the rest are on PC or PS3 anyway.

That said my PS3 hasn't been used in months.

If it's price you're looking for, go 360 - but remember, it cost for online there.

The PS3 has a lower mortality rate, but costs more.

Both of them have good games, but I'd say that for FPS, go XBox, for other things, go PS3.
Actually I'd say if you've got the initial outlay and want the best value get the PS3. With the 360 you have to pay for battery packs, chargers for the battery packs(£30ish per pad as I remember?), online play (£60ish per year) and a wifi adaptor (£60 last I saw). All of that comes free with the PS3.

But of course as said consoles are all about the games, so choose the one with the exclusives you like. I've got a 360 and will get a PS3 at some point purely for Heavy Rain and the Blu Ray. You possibly couldn't care less about those.

I'd go with the PS3 since the 360 doesn't have much games that interest me besides Gears of War 2, but that's me.

Then again, I'm pretty sure you're trolling so do what ever you want.

Calumon: Get A PS1 and play Digimon World!

Reliability: PS3. Everyone knows someone that had issues with a 360.

Exclusives: It's all down to preference. However I'd lean towards the Playstaion for games such as Ratchet and Clank, ModNation Racers, Gran Turismo 5... The 360 also has games that I am really interested in such as Mass Effect (ME2 is coming to PS3 next year), Halo, Forza...
It should also be noted that the 360 tends to get exclusive DLC and DLC earlier than the PS3 eg. GTA, Fallout, CoD.

Online: 360. "You get what you pay for" applies here. Also what consoles your friends have will be a huge factor.

Cost: The 360 is cheaper than the PS3. However, if you add a years subscription to XBLA the cost is virtually the same. Games are also the same price for each console.

Controller: What you use to play the game is very important. However this is all down to personal preference.

Visual and Audio: For watching movies the PS3 wins this hands down. Especially in the audio department, it's an audiophile's dream.
In game visuals are more or less the same on both consoles, this really shouldn't affect your choice of console. Some games on the 360 look better than their PS3 counterparts and vice versa.

Whichever console you chose you will have a blast.

See what your mates have. Go with that.

Major exclusives for the consoles:

Xbox:
Halo 3/ODST/Wars/Reach
L4D1/2 (+orange box)
GoW
Bioshock 1/2 (PS3 version doesn't run properly at all)

PS3:
Uncharted 1/2
Resistance 1/2
Killzone 1/2
All soon to have a third installment.

Other stuff:
Xbox:
(Quite a lot) Less expensive, slightly worse (graphics-wise)
Paid for but superior online system with more features.
Cheaper games and hardware

PS3:
(Quite a lot) More expensive, slightly better (graphics-wise)
Free but inferior online with less features
Blu Ray

Their online communities are equally shit although some PS3 games are prettier and some 360 games get better support, they are all but the same.
All those reasons mean little compared to: Which system do all your mates have?

Get a PC
that is the best console
(but of the 2 choices, that is up to how you are, if you are social IRL, get a 360, otherwise, get a PS3)

On a more serious note, as others have said before me, get a PS3 if you got a good PC. I mean, the Xbox games usually (not allways though) come out at PC too, seeing how they're both owned by Microsoft. But then again, it depends on what games you want to play too (and if you're able to hold the Xbox-controller for more than an hour without suffering cramps in your left-hand from the misplaced joystick). Personally I got a PC and PS3 combo, and there's few games I miss out on (and those I do miss out on, I usually watch Let's Plays of on Youtube).

Bottom line: Choose the system that suits you and your tastes.

Xbox 360 is a better console in terms of technicalities HOWEVER, the Ps3 has many games that appeal to a completely different audiences. It depends on your taste

Since I'm certain you have (or SHOULD have) a decent gaming rig, you should get a PS3. I loves my 360, but the PS3 will always be top dog to me. Yes, it has some great games for it, but the PS3 has more of the "A+" titles, and (I may get flamed for this) I prefer it's online service. Is the PS3 itself perfect? NO. NO IT IS NOT. But it's still a great system with a lot to offer you. The 360 is a great console too, but in terms of overall quality, it's not nearly as good (to me) as the PS3 is.

Agreed

PS3 gets the orange box, but left 4 dead is sadly absent.
But you have a good P.C, so this is not an issue. I went PS3 ( slightly biased by the two manifestations of sony gaming computer that came before it): it's a better machine, no subscription for online multiplayer, blu-ray and Gran Turismo 5 come November.

If you really want to play Halo, I wouldn't blame you for getting a 360; otherwise in depth of quality games they're pretty equal.

P.S Interesting how the comments lean towards the PS3 and the votes lean towards the Xbox.
