So, I've heard a lot about Red Dead Redemption and from that, I think it sounds pretty fun. I loved GTA IV and the whole idea of the wild west thing seems pretty interesting. However, I borrowed Just Cause 2 from a friend, and I loved it. The parachuting and destruction is just great. I can only afford one or the other, so I'd like your opinions. Your thoughts?

Both are great and you will have alot of fun with both, depends on what you want out of a game though. Red Dead is awesome, the campaign is amazing and its side missions will keep you busy for a good 30 hours and all of it will be epic, on top of that you have a pretty good online system, with free roam with loads of friends and deathmatch type stuff as well.

Just Cause is more over the top. The world is huge, and the 'campaign' is pretty entertaining. There is hundreds of hours of game play if you wanna do everything, and you definitely will get your moneys worth.

Both are fantastic, and you really can't go wrong with either, but I would go with Red Dead, its one of the best games I have ever played, its only flaws are the numerous bugs that plague it, but they get fixed in time. I would rather have 30 amazing hours, than 100 pretty good ones.

Both seem to be great (only played RDR) but I can CERTAINLY recommend Red Dead, and I had a Tonne of fun with the JC2 demo as well. Depends what your mood is. Western, or Destructo?

I haven't played either but from what I know of them Just Cause 2 is your dumb fun option and Red Dead has something for the beain to chew on. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

Personally I preferred RDR. Just Cause 2 is in fact an amazing game and tons of fun to play, but Red Dead just has that extra bit of polish and depth that makes it better. Plus it has a multiplayer mode which JC2 does not, if you like that kinda thing.

Just Cause 2 may not seem boring for the first hour or two, but it will get boring for you, trust me. Red Dead stayed interesting and refreshing the entire way through.

I havent played much of RDR but dont buy JC 2. It's fun in parts but it is boring as hell for everything else mainly because of it taking so long to travel from one mission to the next or for some reason why its damn near impossible to land a plane or sometimes even take off without the physics engine bending you over and giving you a good shafting. I'm not going to even start with the enemy AI with rocket launchers either.

I'd recommend Red Dead Redemption to anyone. It's a plain old awesome game.

Rockstar made a world that looks fantastic, filled it with many orignal and interesting characters and gave it a setting that everyone can get behind while still keeping effective gameplay.

In short, it does everything right (With the exception of a few minor glitches)

Having not played either, I heard that your description of JC is about all it has to offer, while RDR is much more story driven, immersive and realistic. I would personally go RDR though, Grand Theft Donkey and all. ;D
Ha! Grand Theft Donkey! That's a good one.

Well, I haven't had the chance to play RDR, but from what I've heard, it's more story-oriented than JC2. I have JC2 myself, and it's pretty fun, when you're blowing crap up to kingdom come. My only complaint is the size of the map. To me, it feels a bit too big. If I was in your position, this is what I'd do. Buy one, then wait until you have enough money to buy the other. That's what I'm going to do.

Red Dead is more on the realistic side. I personally would rather play Just Cause 2 because it's just so much more over the top, and so much fun at the same time. If realism and story is more of your thing than definitely get Red Dead, but if you want some goofy hilariously over the top action then Just Cause 2 is your game.

Red Dead. I got both and Just Cause is relatively fun but Red Dead I ranked with my favorite games of all time. I honestly cannot promote it enough. The story is top notch (I just finished it not 10 minutes ago) plus the sandbox is just plain fun. Like many reviews say the story almost gets in the way of fun you can have in the sandbox.

RDR actually made me feel something I have not felt since playing MGS4 and Metal Gear took 4 games to give me the emotions I felt in just one. Its about as close to a perfect game as you can get currently. So Red Dead.

P.S. Just Cause is great fun don't get me wrong. Its sandbox is gorgeous but really it is a game about dicking around. You almost exclusively have to make your own fun. I wont bad mouth it because it really is a good game but it is no where near the caliber that Red Dead is. I still pop into it buy a plane and just fly around and enjoy the view only to crash the thing into a fuel silo, plant c4 on everything I can, jump onto a plane taking off from a runway and blow the c4 while making a speedy getaway on their own plane. You just cant reproduce that anywhere haha.

But again Red Dead. Please for the love of god get Red Dead. You will never ever regret that purchase.
