The latest DLC pack for Red Dead Redemption is released tomorrow (21st September at the time of writing) and in all honestly looks like it could add some quite fun things.

* Multiplayer card games
* Multiplayer horse racing
* New hideouts
* A new game mode.

However, two things don't seem so cool about it. Thing the first: The use of characters from the actual game as multiplayer skins: Personally, I don't fancy shooting the likes of John Marston or Bonnie in the face..and how many Johns will there be? Whole servers, full of a great character, no doubt ruining him.

Thing the second: The price, Oh God, the price! 800 Microsoft points of £7.99 (I think in the US it costs $9.99... thank you for screwing us in the UK over with inflated prices again American publishers, but that's not the gripe)

THAT much for a few extra multiplayer modes and skins? A bit steep isn't it? Especially if you take into account that the combined cost of The Lost & Damned/The Ballad of Gay Tony for GTA IV was £25, so you paid around £12 each for two rather decently lengthed games.

There's the website for the Red Dead DLC by the way: http://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption/dlc/liars

So what do you think? Are Rockstar taking the piss with this? Or will you be getting it?

(P.S. My argument, might be SLIGHTLY in favour of one view over the other)

Fortunately I won't have to pay for my dlc. I shared the last RDR dlc with a coworker and he owes me now. :p
I'm prolly only gonna shell out cash for the Zombie Nightmare pack, which will hopefully come out in October.

DLC generally seems to be very expensive for what it is (See: MW2, £10.99 for 3 new maps and 2 ports) and for this one I'll definitely not be buying it. Partially due to the horse racing being a bit crap and me sucking at card games.

It sounds pricey. I'll get it though; me and an online mate play RDR all the time.

Luckily rdr multiplayer died for me, so I wont be temptedto get this. It seems they limited multip,layer to sell this dlc later.
That's kind of what I thought, which is a shame.

To answer my own question, I found Red Dead multiplayer enjoyable for awhile, but there were too many high level players just spending their times picking off newbies to make it enjoyable.

Now when you think about it, it's strange there werent multiplayer card games in the game to begin with.

Seems like a pretty obvious thing to have in RDR, if you ask me.

But I wont be getting it. Loved RDR, but Im not just that into the online component.

Also a new weapon.

[edit] Didn't really finish what I wanted to say... anyways, the new weapon will be the explosive shot rifle, which will make people gib in a giant pile of red goo. Which is pretty neat.

However I will only be picking up this DLC if I find that a few of my friends get it as well, kind of pointless for me to buy it and only be able to play it with randoms.

I'll be getting it, since I love the game and have a load of excess Microsoft Points that I bough at a discount, so it's not actually going to cost very much, about £5, which I think will be worth it as it's essentially 2 DLC's rolled into one and will include everything the Freeroam pack was going to have.

Why would you pay willing pay £7.99 for it, which is such an obviously jumped up price?

Even if you buy Microsoft Points at their most expensive, direct from Microsoft, they're still only 8.5p a point, which makes the 800 point DLC cost £6.80.

If you shop around online you can get 2100 points cards for as little as £13, which makes it about 6.1p a point and a 800 point DLC £4.95.

I don't own a 360 so I'm not too sure how Microsoft points work, but the PSN price is listed as £7.99.

It is the only of their DLC which I have been interested in. However, I selected no because I've barely touched the multiplayer due to how boring it is and I'm wishing they would do some single player content... that goes for a lot of games that focus their expansions on multiplayer.

I'll probably buy it for the online poker. Speaking of which, considering that you have to be 18 to play poker, and we all know little kids are playing this game when they shouldn't be, doyou think that there will be some kind of controversy.

I doubt it, there isn't actually money involved.

Maybe it's different in the USA.

On full tilt poker.com you have to be 18, and there is no money involved.

Evidently, when RS said you could do "basically everything" except story missions in multiplayer, they meant "once you buy several DLCS for ten bucks a pop."
