So as i'm sure most people are aware a new series of Red Dwarf is being released; here is the trailer for those who haven't seen it:

What i want to know is, is everyone as crazy hyped up about this as me? Becuase i'm going to explode with anticipation at IMO the best Sci-Fi comedys returning to our screens.

Also i know a lot of people who hate this programn (And all the ones i know are British) and i just don't understand why.

My favourite episode is "Quarantine zone" What's yours?

Hate Red Dwarf?

Red Dwarf is frikken awesome, and one of the best British comedies ever made.

I am so damn Psyched for this new series, and judging by the trailer, It looks like it going to hit the high's of the excellent series 6.

Please don't fuck this up, Grant Naylor.

Tentative after Back to Earth, especially considering that it's still just Doug Naylor. Hopefully they'll ignore the whole saga and just go back to the III-VI days.

My god they've aged.

Eh, I don't really know. The last supposed Red dwarf finale was just so terrible yet it isn't bad it's just empty,

If they keep the feel the same as the original series, sign me the fuck up!

Was actually thinking of making a thread about Red Dwarf earlier today just because I hadn't watched it in a while and I wanted to see what people thought about it and what their favourite moments were etc. etc.

And people that hate Red Dwarf exist? Mr Flibble is very cross.

Also, I like that Dave seems to be becoming a force for good in UK comedy, not just a channel that runs a load of repeats of Top Gear and QI.

I love Red Dwarf, watched it so many times on Netflix. I didn't see the back to Earth thing so my finale to it was the end of series 8. I can't wait for the new series. Only little problem I have is how they've aged. Just doesn't look right, though I doubt it will hamper my enjoyment.

Wow. And I just posted about how I thought S8 was maybe one too many. BTE had it's moments but they've got to get back to being just plain silly. I want mutant curry monsters, double polaroids and green blobs. Oh, and Ace Rimmer.

Even before it originally finished the quality of the show had declined drastically, and then we had the 'Back to Earth' episodes that made me want to hurt myself. In it's prime though it was a hilarious show with wonderful characters.

If they came back and had the quality of those few middle seasons it will likely be the best show on tv, though I forsee it being nothing other than terrible to be honest.

Doesn't matter how I feel about it, I'm going to watch it out of curiosity if nothing else. If it's good, it's good, if it's bad, I'll still enjoy the older ones. With just one of the two original writers, or producers or whatever it is they are like it was with Back to Earth I'm certainly suspicious of it, but hopefully he'll have learned how to work on his own better this time.

I have a friend who went to the filming of an episode or two.
I can't remember the exact words he used, but he thought it was an excellent return to form.

... also, bloody hell they have aged.

I've been a fan forever. And I actually hadn't heard about this tenth season, so this is a pleasant surprise. :)

i remember watching the first episode of the first season, at the time i was a huge black adder fan so this was my number two but over the years and re watching it the genius of the show grew on me.

im tentatively hopeful , if its the guys back in the crimson short one doing the silly crap they did best with some clever and funny sci -fi scenarios like the golden years it could be good.

I do hate it. I simply cannot stand terrible production values. I do not want my television to vomit into my eyes again.

I am going to go into this new series with cautious optimism, yes Back to Earth was a huge pile of arse with almost no redeeming qualities what so ever. But I loved Red Dwarf when it was back on the BBC, so I'm hoping that this series will recapture some of that old magic.

I always thought the various effects were quite good, considering the budget.

Rimmer and Lister look reeeaaallly old now...

BUT, judging from that trailer, they ain't straying too far from the original formula. Which is good. Since Red Dwarf is hilarious.

Will definitely be watching this one.

Lol see many people will say that's one of the best bits about the show, seeing as how people love it and how little funding it had. They didn't let bad affects subtract fropm the experience the show gave. It's like the eralier episodes of star trek and doctor who.

Some people don't like Red Dwarf? I think they need an introduction to the Polymorph.

Damn excited about the new series, I've watched Red Dwarf almost religiously since I was a young kid. I should temper my expectations given the poor Back to Earth special but I can't I'm too hyped.

Danny John-Jules is too awesome for ageing.

It's kind of weird seeing how Kryten has aged more then the Cat.

But yeah I will watch it, even the smegging back to earth series had some good jokes. And did I hear a studio audience? :D

EDIT: Oh hey, I forgot I changed my avatar a while back to Rimmer and his stuffed penguin. How appropriate.

We should have a thread were we can discuss Red Dwarf at our leisure, man. Like what was your favourite episode, who was your favourite character, who was the funnier Holly, and stoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast!
