Red9 for Life. The Punisher isn't as strong, the multiple enemy bullet pass through doesn't happen enough to make it worthwhile.
It happens every shot dude. Unless you're just missing the subsequent victims.

No, I know it could happen with every bullet, it's just that creating situations in which it would happen or getting lucky with having the enemies lined up isn't worth the loss of power. In my opinion, of course.

Noo! Save the Red 9, its exclusive gives it 5 firepower! (or 6 if you're playing the Wii)
If you beat the gamecube version several times through with each subsequent playthrough selling all your weapons and starting "fresh", then you get 6.5 or 7 for the Red 9.
I had no idea. I sort of want to try it now.

Less shots= more ammo? Really? So that's where I've been going wrong all these years :p

I like the blacktail, just cause it sounds like it's the name of an African American adult publication.
Lol, ok, I mean less shots fired.

Red9 just because the bullet going through effect is not enough to out weight it's supstantial power disadvantage. Although lots of multiple shot options do occure within the castle. How about you make to save accounts. One within one of the guns and the other with the other gun. Keep us informed on how each went :)

Dude, Red9 for the win, always.

I have played through the ps2 version at least 30 times, and don't bother with any other pistol than the red9.

It is the most fun to shoot, and looks the best, in my opinion.

You definitely do not need the stock for the tmp or red9 and the tmp is flat out useless once you reach the island.

I suppose it's worth noting that we probably used different tactics. I would frequently take on groups of four or five with the punisher by hitting them with lower body and midsection shots that kept them from advancing on me. If I couldn't hit several at a time I wouldn't have even attempted that using a handgun.

Red 9, if the wii edition is the same as the ps2 version, the red 9 with the exclusive should be 6.5 damage, since you said you prefer firepower, this is the way to go because it beats the crappy punisher with 1.9 damage, the blacktail with 4.5 damage, or you could leave it to chance for 5X critical headshot chance with the standard handgun. Go with the Red 9

the ps2 version is much easier than the gamecube version due to the blacktail being only 3.6 damage for the gamecube, but 4.5 for the ps2, the red 9 gets 5 with the game cube but 6.5 for the ps2, the bolt action rifle gets 18 damage with the game cube, but 30 on the ps2, the list goes on and on.

I always preffered the red nine to the standard handguns, but the broken butterfly seems to be exactly what your looking for.

The gamecube also had an easy mode, didn't it?

Does it have a hard (professional)mode as well?

I have not played the gc version, so I don't know if you can get the exclusive upgrades in the same places you do in the ps2 version.

EDIT: this was supposed to be quoted with blood_lined post about the firepower differences between gc and ps2.

It took me a while to figure out, I didn't notice it first 5 playthrough's, all the faqs state the Red 9 has an exclusive of 5 point firepower and I noticed mine was higher than that.

So I wiped the memory card and started fresh to see what parameters are needed to get it higher, but i'm one of those tiresome obsessives that like to find out all the intricacies of the shit I play with.

The Red9 never failed me in the PS2 version. But on my second run i also packed the VP-70 "Matilda" simply because its Burst, has alot of firepower and a high mag capacity and is HK made. ^^
It sucks ammo like smarties but once you get the hang for it, single shots are easy to pull off, and nothing beats a group of enemys harder then a 3-burst HANDGUN!

I actually ran through the game trice to collect handgun ammo and once i had about 1000-1500 (could have been 2000, i cant remember, it was alot though) i went at it with only the Matilda packed.

Also the Springfield has a 50 point exclusive damage upgrade, good for bosses.
And what are you talking about the stock´s not useful on the Red9? Mine at least wobbled like jelly and long distance headshots where impossible.
With the stock, i could snipe guys continuesly.

True, the matilda is a great goofing around gun, but it takes 3 rounds to equal the power of the red9. Plus, on burst, you cannot make all 3 rounds hit the head, the kick is too much.

Also, the bolt action rifle, which is what I think you mean by the springfield, only goes up to 30, not 50.

Who is with me in saying that the mine thrower is the most useless weapon in re4?

No the gamecube didn't have an easy mode and it did have the pro mode.

Also, the Handcannon is the best handgun... unless you count that as a magnum. I always liked the Blacktail, though I really liked the Red 9 I always used the Blacktail.

I like the Punisher the best. Then again, I use it not for dealing damage directly, but for setting up enemies for roundhouses/suplexes. So I find the Punisher to be the best pistol for me to use because of its shield piercing properties.

Actually, I find the Sub Machine Gun to be the most useless weapon. I find the Shotgun better for both crowd control and damage. The SMG's large ammo capacity makes it useful for head/knee shots, but then again, you already have a pistol for that, and ammo conservation isn't a big deal in RE4.

That, and the Mine Thrower is a lot of fun. Mine enemies in the face, then roundhouse them and watch them and their buddies explode by the time they recover. Plus, sniping with explosive weapons is cool. The homing upgrade is a pile of crap though. It often aims AWAY from your target, and towards another enemy's shield (which stops it from exploding).
