I'm browsing the topics here in gaming discussion and I am seeing quite a few topics boiling down to "Help, my X-Box is screwing the hell up!". My sympathy goes to all of them, since really no one deserves to have their ANYTHING suddenly blow up on them. However, it gets me to wondering...

What about the other systems?

Now, naturally, all the current leading consoles have problems, even if I don't happen to hear about them. I asked once if PS3s ever really break down and was informed about the Yellow Light Of Doom, essentially. But then, even though I was told when I was asked, I never hear about them, for instance, around here on the Escapist. Or anywhere. Or anything much about the Wii either. (I'm excluding PC because {A} it's not a console and {B} I KNOW what can go wrong there and, again, you have my sympathies to your troubles.)

So, as a PS3 user who's just damn curious...tell me about it. Are you having trouble with your consoles?

As a 360 user, I've only had the RRoD with one light. That was easily solved by re-plugging the wires back in. Otherwise no problems.

My Xbox RROD'd earlier this year, my PS3 YLOD'd 3 weeks ago, which was also a day before my PC's motherboard decided to kill herself.

My Xbox is fine for 2 years running. The disc drive takes a while to read the disc, but apart from that it was fine. I did have a PS2 that broke down regularly though. That was because I took crappy care of it though.

My first Xbox got the classic triple red lights. It died.

My second one got only 2 red lights, which the manual told me was because of overheat. Just cleared out it's insides with a vacuum cleaner and it seems to be working to this day (I sold it).

Now I have a Xbox 360 Elite (bought it for 6 times larger hard drive and HDMI hole). I think I've had it for 2 years or so now without any technical difficulties. Apart from the disc drive not opening if there is nothing in it.

Oh, uhhh...for the record, I guess I should speak, since it's my topic. I'm a PS3 owner with no significant problem to really speak of. (Like it's not TOO bad for internet use if the computer's down and I'm liking the gaming, movies, music, etc.) So, I have to vote no, though years ago my FIRST PS2 had an error in it or something. (Big deal. When that happened, I got a new one on the cheap.)

My DS has a really loose hinge, and no longer locks into the slightly tilted upward position.

It can only be closed, or tilted all the way back. And snaps shut if I hold it upright. So, it's not really good for real time action games, like Zelda and Chinatown Wars and Castlevania. All I can really do now is play RPGs and adventure games.

I've never had a problem with my PS3, it's a slim that I bought as soon as they came out so it's been about a year.

I've only had very minor things with my computer, usually caused by me. For random stuff, I guess just things like installing new drivers causing issues and wasting maybe 30 mins or so fixing it. But hardware wise, I don't think I've had issues there either.

One time I had to change the disc reader on my PS2. Then about 2 years ago, my 360 got the full blown RROD. I got it fixed, and nothing has gone wrong since.

I have a dead PS2, 'cause the motor is gone. Part from that, 'nuffin. My launch PS3 is hunky-dory and my PC is doing great. Say what you like about Dell's pre-built piles of turd, they last.

PC, Wii and 360 user. None have died at all yet (touches wood). I hear a lot about RROD's, so I expect one of my very own soon

My 360 only crapped out on me once and that was due to the graphics card. It was fixed and it's still going. The inter cooler probably helps.
