Im not talking RPG games, this is about pretending that the character your acting is actually you, or someone you know. And then making decisions or acting in a way that you would imagine acting in that situation. I find Fallout 3 one of the best ones, but not just because its already an RPG; the modding adds a new level of immersion.
F.E.A.R 2 is good too, although slowing time in an otherwise almost normal world makes it a little strange.

What games do you enjoy doing this on?

Persona 1/3/4,they leave all the dialogue options open to you, the entire game feels like you're playing you in a fairly odd scenario.

In fallout 3, i can never pull myself to doing something bad to people, i just cant, it sucks, ive already finshed it as good, maybe im just to nice and get to into that game.

But yeah, i do roleplay, and why eouldnt you, it helps with immersion.

I do it especcialy in Horror Games.

Alpha Centauri. Very atmospheric game where you have to make a lot of important decisions while the game is constantly reinforcing the image of the leader you are meant to be playing.

I find it hard to get any feeling for player characters in most computer RPG games as you are normally just beating people up and being led by the nose through a story.

Ive clocked around 100 hours on oblivion after completing every quest. Come to think of it, RPing for that long seems a little sad...
Another one; Mount&blade

If your including multiplayer games, one of the obvious ones to RP in is Neverwinter Nights. Tons of great RP servers, and nothing says RP like the D&D system.

I love to roleplay, GTA games are good for roleplaying in, i pretend I have a job and i drive to work and blah de blah. Sad i know, but adds more fun when you've finished the game.

Erm, Duke Nukem 3D i spent hours of roleplaying with mods and extra levels

Oblivion is a weird one, i really wanna roleplay in it but i don't find it an easy game to roleplay in :S

Seems kind of silly to me. Why would you want to take part in a narrative while going through absolutely zero character progression? Even in games that don't explicitly involve written or acted progression - like Pokemon or Pac-Man - I find myself able to imagine it happening when it's a character. I could never do that if it were myself or someone I know.

I've roleplayed in a lot of contexts in my life, but always as an original character. Never as myself. Surely that defeats the purpose?
