All this proves is that there was, in fact, a rumor, and that the FBI documented it.

Of course, if we humans saw anything pertaining to aliens, we would nuke em all. I think it is a good idea to cover it up.
Really? Unless they are from our solar system (which they aren't) I'm pretty sure we cannot even reach them with any nukes. Also, if they are able to travel here, but we cannot even travel to our own neighboring planets, chances are we don't want to piss them off.

Trust me. If anything alien happend on this planet within this past 100 years and it involved a downed UFO we would have an intergalactic war on our hands.

Don''t you think that after 50 years SOMEONE from his homeworld would wonder why the scout/ambassador did not make it home? If any alien crashed or landed safely their i can guarantee that from the way our government runs they would be dead, dissected, and someone back at ilium would have intercepted an SOS, a mayday, or 'HELP THESE CRAZY MOTHER FUCKERS ARE GOING TO SLICE ME OPEN!". I would think the people of the visitor would have come to earth and whooped our ass had we killed one of their own, defiled his corpse, and stripped his vehicle.
lol im not a believer of aliens coming to earth. As you say, it's ridiculously unlikely, and even if they did im sure they have the technology to land. I just thought it was an interesting piece of info from the fbi and proves there was a cover up (even if that doesnt involve little green people).

Well it's like Steven Hawking said (I'm paraphrasing):
We know of one sentient technologically advanced species; Us and we're assholes so according to those odds any aliens we meet are likely to be as bad as us. What would we do if we encountered a technologically inferior group with stuff we can use?

I am not sure what your point is. Frankly, I find the logic that leads him to conclude that other aliens are likely to be assholes based on one example of a sentient species baffling. But even if we would accept that, what are you saying? The assholery is pretty much predicated on the fact that we are more powerful, and that it is relatively safe for us to act that way to other species.

If another species could reach our world, they are technologically far superior to us, so it would be incredibly stupid of us to do anything to them that would give them an extra incentive to exterminate us. If your point is that since they are sentient species and therefore assholes, they will be doing that anyway, then there is basically nothing we can do about that. Sure we could, would and should try to fight back, but striking pre-emptively against a vastly superior enemy (and perhaps unnecessarily provoking them) is stupid beyond belief.

This is a pure fabrication. I have been doing Memorandum's (MFR's or Memorandum for Record) in the AF for the past 9 years I have proudly served. Everything is accurate on this memo except the signature block, it is supposed to be (at that time period) 5 inches below the last line on the right hand side of the page to be in alignment with the end of text. It's been that way for years, even old memo's I have seen from that time period in old records. This was probably a test to see what a reaction they would get out of people. I could be wrong, but I was only pointing out what I gathered by looking at the memo here. Good find, though, i had no idea they declassified so much.

Meh, maybe. I don't really have any knowledge in memo authenticity, but it is on the FBI's own website. I don't see why the FBI would troll the internet.

Basing a theory that 100% of sentient species we know of are jerkbags is pretty solid. History is basically comprised of the advanced being less than charitible with the unadvanced. His point was we shouldn't be doing things like hurling satellites out to draw attention when we sure as hell have no means of dealing with a more advanced version of ourselves.

It's evidence of something, but what, I cannot say. Could be just the FBI documenting a rumor, could be fact. I can't call this conclusive either way.

No it is not. By that exact same logic you could argue that all sentient species need to have exactly two arms, two legs, two eyes, ten fingers, etc. Basically you could argue that aliens are probably humans from another planet.
100% means almost nothing, when you have only one example to base it off. What you argue below makes far more sense.

If you're talking about hurling out satellites for the specific purpose of drawing attention to ourselves, than I might agree. I think we should still do everything we can to advance our own species though, even if that means that we have to put satellites in the sky that could potentially cause detection. Otherwise, we will never be able to stand a chance.

And about actually trying to contact alien species: I can see where Hawking is coming from. I'm not really willing to accept that those aliens will very likely be assholes, but the fact is that we don't know. I don't know how exactly we could potentially benefit from alien contact, so the risk might not be worth the rewards.

Hah I actually just so happened to have Roswell UFO Incident wikipedia page in another tab right now on a section about this.

But this doesn't prove aliens exist. Until I see real proof I don't believe any aliens have ever visited Earth. Sure the universe is so big there probably is life or life-like stuff out there, but that's no reason to think it has come anywhere near us, or would be humanoid or even visible to us.
