I had an idea for what I think would be a really good RPG multi-player mode. You take your character from the single-player mode and place him or her into the mode with all his equipment and powers you've chosen to give him. You can switch equipment and such when you die if you feel the need to switch. You are placed in a match with people of different classes and races and such but with the same level. You would be able to as a warrior type class see how a mage type class of the same level would stack up against you. I have, almost all the time when playing RPG's, wondered how my character would stack up against something that could actually think and I know I can't be the only one who would enjoy that.

I realize that this has plenty of problems, not the least of which is that it would be incredibly difficult to create and if your one of those overachieving super players who get to the level cap on the first day you probably won't be able to the multi-player for awhile.

So there are flaws but if it was made would you enjoy it?

Although I'm not much for PvP, I believe this would be an awesome idea, and maybe extended for some co-operative play similar to Borderlands for some RPGs where you create your own character.

This sums up my opinion. I don't personally enjoy PvP, and it may be difficult to make a RPG with non-PvP intensive multiplayer that doesn't turn into an MMO. But the concept sounds interesting. Maybe something like small co-op quests layered into the rest of the game?

Try playing Neverwinter Nights, some online servers offer this, or offered... It is quite an old game. It did work, but with some builds it was nearly impossible to beat others. If you could change your class after each fight that might work. OT if they did this then yes I'd be all for it.
