Poll: RTS fans, whats your poison?

I unconsiously go for the turtle strat EVERY TIME. I have to FORCE myself not to use it sometimes, since it really screws me over on zerg rushes.

Im the worlds biggest RTS turtle. HUNKER DOWN BUILD A BILLION TURRETS AND SPAM LONG RANGE TROOPS! I never attack until "fortress inpregnable" is complete. Then my army of the best troops rolls accross the map.

I challenge you to a duel.

I usually like to play Sim City for the first 30 minutes of a game, then roll over everything with a maxed unit cap of the highest tier units.

Well, in DoW my favourite army was the guard and in CoH it was the British, so 'turtle' would describe me best I think. While I feel DoW 2 was an ok game in of itself I much prefer 1...still at least it felt like you were paying for something new, from what I can tell Starcraft 2 is the same game as starcraft 1 with better graphics.

PS, just DL'd the Firestorm over Kaurava 3.6 beta Mod last night (ex F o Kronus). Awesomeness. Add the Daemonhunters, Witch hunters, adeptus collection, armageddon and steel legion mods and DC will fill all your 40K RTS wishes.

First off, how do the british play in CoH? I was going to buy the expanison off steam but choose soulstorm over it. So far worth it. Since its only 20$ though I'll still be getting it.

Second, do you have a link for that mod?

British have a lot of immobile artillery and AT guns, some of which have ridiculously long range. They are the most turtlelike army in the game.

I like playing brits aswell, especially with the radio triangulators. CoH is definitely my favorite RTS, focusing fairly heavily on the combat, and not building.

I like where they go hand in metaphorical hand. The total war games have been pretty good about this.

I'm actually replaying an old game called Stronghold Crusader. I suppose that's sort of an RTS but it's also kinda a castle sim (where you try and keep everyone happy). I'm having great fun and I like seeing my lumber guys cut down trees which they make wood from which they put on the stockpile which your fletcher then takes to craft into bows which he puts in the armory. It makes it somehow feel more alive when you can actually see them doing all this instead of the supplies being a number which grows or drops. I also like building thick walls and moats to make it look like a proper menacing castle. And for some reason I love siege towers, they just look kinda awesome.

Aww, I love stronghold. Best castle building game I've ever played, and only. Building an army was so much rewarding when you had to put so much resorces into it.

What a coincidence, just yesterday I fell for Age of Mythology again. Truly a great RTS.

Even better when you are alone against everyone and use cheats to bomb the hell out of them.

I turtle. I know most RTS don't really let you do that anymore but I still prefer to Turtle as I usually play with an ally or two so I prefer to just sit there with a big beefy base and dare the enemy to come my way.

I like to keep my strategies fresh so i try doing everything rushes,turtleing,long term,mass low tier pretty much any strategy that i can pick up from other players.I like "mix" RTSes cause that is what all of em are i guess lol
