Correct me if I am wrong, it has been a few years since I played it.moretimethansense said:See, I have to disagree with you there, I played C&C on the PS1 before I got a PC and I did fine, Mouse is better but it was perfectly usable.omega 616 said:Coming from a console player, this all the way! RTS's only on PC.
Also I refused to vote in the poll 'cos the one I assume I should pick makes no sense, whats the > for?
Menu, d-pad to select, X, wait for it to build, mernu d-pad,X then place, so pretty much, I never found it to be much of a problem, though I cvan see how it would feel slow to a primarily PC gamer.omega 616 said:Correct me if I am wrong, it has been a few years since I played it.moretimethansense said:See, I have to disagree with you there, I played C&C on the PS1 before I got a PC and I did fine, Mouse is better but it was perfectly usable.omega 616 said:Coming from a console player, this all the way! Didn't you have to press one button to go to building tab thing, scroll down to the building/unit you wanted, press X, press another button to go back to the "main screen"? I remember thinking "hurry up scroll faster, scroll faster" as my butt cheeks tensed and sweat dripped down my forehead as I was nervously trying to build something or move something somewhere.
I am primarily a console gamer and it's just too slow to do, I am by no means a Korean on RTS games (I am a one hotkey gamer) but console RTS games are a no no for me.moretimethansense said:Menu, d-pad to select, X, wait for it to build, mernu d-pad,X then place, so pretty much, I never found it to be much of a problem, though I cvan see how it would feel slow to a primarily PC gamer.omega 616 said:Correct me if I am wrong, it has been a few years since I played it.moretimethansense said:See, I have to disagree with you there, I played C&C on the PS1 before I got a PC and I did fine, Mouse is better but it was perfectly usable.omega 616 said:Coming from a console player, this all the way! Eh, fair enough if it's just not your thing, I never really had a problem with it myself, but I can see where you're coming from.omega 616 said:I am primarily a console gamer and it's just too slow to do, I am by no means a Korean on RTS games (I am a one hotkey gamer) but console RTS games are a no no for me.
This site actually makes LOL a little with this kind of stuff, I hear stuff like "FPS on console shouldn't be allowed" (yay for hyperboles) then this topic comes up and it's like "yeah, RTS on consoles is totally fine".moretimethansense said:Eh, fair enough if it's just not your thing, I never really had a problem with it myself, but I can see where you're coming from.omega 616 said:I am primarily a console gamer and it's just too slow to do, I am by no means a Korean on RTS games (I am a one hotkey gamer) but console RTS games are a no no for me.
There are far worse done RTSs on consoles, I'd name one in particular but it was so bad I blocked it from my mind.
I maintain that they can be done well though, it just needs some creativity.
Out of curiosity, what game was it?moretimethansense said:Eh, fair enough if it's just not your thing, I never really had a problem with it myself, but I can see where you're coming from.omega 616 said:I am primarily a console gamer and it's just too slow to do, I am by no means a Korean on RTS games (I am a one hotkey gamer) but console RTS games are a no no for me.

Indeed, I liked endwar, up until that I thought it couldn't be done, and that is one of the very few examples that work, and although it is possible for it work, and I'd like to see more good ones on consoles, the genre should mainly stick to PC'sJedihunter4 said:I thought end war was good, very good, once you got the hang of the voice controls you could do what you wanted easy, not allot of units thou. You can use a key board and mouse on the xbox, so there is no reason they cant be as good as each other. its just the developers trying to cram everything on the controller, when done well the voice commands work well. If the developer takes the time to do that right or you own the xbox key board an mouse. then its all the same.
Something makes me doubt the Kinect for RTS games. I can't help but think, "wave hand in general direction of screen, trying to select infantry, accidentaly select tank and order it to attack my own base." Other motion controllers could work though. As an example, consider the A and B buttons on a Wii controller as analogous to left and right mouse buttons. It's a pointer with two buttons. You could almost port most existing RTS games onto that without too much change in the control scheme.Dirty Hipsters said:Playing RTS games with a controller is terrible, but I can't help but think that Kinect could be the best thing to ever happen to console RTS games if it gets implemented right. It's really a shame that Microsoft is focusing on making Wii game knockoffs for the Kinect instead of doing something even moderately interesting with it.
Pretty much this. I liked Halo Wars, but not most of the other ones.ryai458 said:Halo Wars worked on the Xbox360 but mostly lets leave the RTS's to pc.
Actualy I vehemently oppose the FPS/console arguement, I find tha they generally work fine, I don't even think that analouge sticks are that much worse than a mouse set up, I just think that devs overcompensate with autoaim, when all it really needs is to be made slightly smoother.omega 616 said:This site actually makes LOL a little with this kind of stuff, I hear stuff like "FPS on console shouldn't be allowed" (yay for hyperboles) then this topic comes up and it's like "yeah, RTS on consoles is totally fine".moretimethansense said:Eh, fair enough if it's just not your thing, I never really had a problem with it myself, but I can see where you're coming from.omega 616 said:I am primarily a console gamer and it's just too slow to do, I am by no means a Korean on RTS games (I am a one hotkey gamer) but console RTS games are a no no for me.

I wasn't kidding, I genuinly can't remember what it was called, or even what it was about.random_bars said:Out of curiosity, what game was it?
