The only long quest I can think of is Dragon Slayer, and that's meant to be the hardest one to do.
While Guthix Sleeps, Nomad's Requiem come across as the hardest (being Grandmaster level). At least for members.

I play the game, been on and off since 2005. I'd say a lot of hate was just from ignorant WOW players. And WOW gets hate from ignorant RuneScape players.

Edit: can't work quotes well. Gah.

Ah, I've never been a Member, so I can't really comment on those.

After some Wiki-ing WGS is classed as a 'Very, very long' quest, whilst NR is 'Medium'. Quite.

Some might consider length to equal difficulty in RS. WGS is lengthy but not too hard (and by RuneHQ standards, Grandmaster) whilst NR is not so length but pretty hard (also by RHQ, Grandmaster).

NR is the only one I haven't done. Not because I can't, but my connection sucks. So if I die I'll be raging.

It's a fun MMO, but due to most of the users being 9 years old it does get tiresome after a while.

Fun, with a bajillion things to do. (Seriously)
Actually good quests, interesting with story lines.
The combat and weapons/armour thing is awfull though, and that's just annoying, because it makes the combat worse. There are a couple of different sets of types of Weapons/Armour, and that's it.

The skills and quests are what redeem it and make it good though, I do like.

Tbh I think it's great for a FREE MMO. I think the people who made it are really cool for making a very decent free MMO, seriously, what nice guys!
I'm not an MMO fan but have played Runescape a little in the past and found it pretty fun. I don't know how good it is compared to the gameplay in WoW or EVE or whatever, but I personally enjoyed it

say what you want about Runescape, but the developers did an amazing job! :O (a huge 3d mmorpg in a browser!!!)

Hate it. Maybe it's the huge pause between clicking on something and you getting off your lazy ass to do it, maybe it's the horrible combat, but something about it never really clicked.

its fucking terrible, the gameplay and graphics of a free online game or mediocre at the absolute best, there are so many other free mmorpgs that are a thousand times better

RuneScape could be a good game if they got rid of their damn membership system and replaced it with enough advertising to cover any lost money from doing so. I hated the time between leaving tutorial island and getting full rune, it was mostly "GRINDGRINDGRIND DO THESE 20 QUESTS, GRIND SOME MORE, GRIND AGAIN, KILL BIG DRAGON, GRINDGRINDGRIND, K NOW YOU HAVE FINISHED THE FREE TO PLAY PART PLZ PAY $5."

Their new "FutureScape" game should be good though, I'll probably give it a look.

You just ninja'd about 90% of the gaming population.

Everyone played it as a kid, until they learned how utter shit it was.

I liked Runscape when I was a kid. I was never good at it. When I got older, I greifed the shit outta that game, and had a lot of fun. But since jagex went all crazy with their anti-greifing measures the game just isn't fun anymore.

I dislike nearly every mmo. I can't stand "Kill this many of this kind of monster" missions. The quests are literally the exact same thing over and over and over again. It doesn't change, no matter how tough you or the monsters get, you're still clicking and watching some hack and slash action you couldn't participate in.

But I found Runescape to be an exception. No two quests were quite the same. One day I could be having tea with Death, and the next I could be slaying a dragon. It was quite varied and wide open compared to most other games of it's genre. But it suffered from the same problem other mmos had. You sat there, day after day, clicking on stuff and watching the game be played from the sidelines.

It's sort of like Weed, it's a gateway MMO. If you like the experience, you move on to bigger and better MMO's, if you don't like it, you just stop and go play AdventureQuest or something.

One little thing that always annoyed me, as trivial as it is, was that there was no sky. Just darkness. Endless darkness. It made me feel strange.

Honestly, it's amazing for being programmed by Java and playable in a browser so there's nothing to download. But beyond that I don't know whether this is an opinion of all MMOs or not but if I have no one to play with or any one to compete with I have no reason to grind, if there's no reason to grind there's no reason to play.

So whether I like it or hate it, oddly I find myself lacking a real answer to that and yet I started back in 2004 with one character, lost it, created others off and on and random times in my life only because I heard some friend(s) started again.

So I guess the game is just there to me now. It simply exist.
