You've played runescape right? Maybe you still play it. I've never heard a "professional" review of the game and I wanted to know what people think.

Heres my REVIEW:

Good for a f2p on the surface. I got reasonably high in the game (lvl 77) and just got bored. The quests aren't great. Most lack flare and are childish. The game actually becomes a chore as you progress. It simply isn't fun anymore at a certain point. For me, it was lvl 75. I also think its way to hard and tedious to keep pointing and clicking to make money. Sure, fishing lobbys for 5 hours is profitable, but it just takes too long, and most people don't have that time...I think. Some how, everyones rich though. Anyway, there were good points. I say "were" because those two good points are gone. The wilderness was great. Jagex tried to make up for it with the arena and bounty hunter, but its just not the same. The wilderness was the very reason for playing for my chums and I. Another good point was the trade system. Best I've ever seen. There weren't any real limits, which was great. But Jagex ruined the game because they took it too seriously. They took out pvp and ruined trading because people didn't have time to fish or pick flax for hours on end to make the 10mil thats needed to buy decent armor. But the worst thing about the game is the players. No one seems to want to help anyone else. There all pretty unfriendly and if your a lower level, your automatically registered as a noob. The 5 dollars a month isn't worth the membership. The whole game should be free actually, and the new graphics don't make the game better. The member world is just a free world with more tree's.

In conclusion, Runescape is good, if you don't know what a good MMORPG is. Jagex takes the game way too seriously and the quests are pretty, well, retarded. None of the in game world makes any sense (You can actually just murder guards, right in front of other guards).
The whole game can be down with a mouse, which also bothers me, because it takes away the freedom of roaming a large, virtual world. Combat is just ridiculous and lacks any skill other than throwing enough ancient magic or how fast you can special attack a dds.

If you want to waste your time playing an MMORPG, WoW is for you.

Heres my synopsis:
Thats the first problem. It's not supposed to be a synopsis, it's a Review.
A Synopsis is a brief summary of the plot and events, while a review is supposed to be a fully fleshed out description of the game and it's features.

As for the review, it's Very short.
Pictures would have been nice.
Add them by using this: [ img] URL goes here [ /img] (No spaces.)
Spices your reviews up considerably.

As for your review, on the positive note:
It's definitely Better than "thegodofwar's good or gimp."
Overall: Keep writing, This was a pretty good effort.

Nice review, well done, and not too long.
Also, if you're going to start reviewing MMOs, please spare poor little Maplestory.

Runescape is, in my opinion one of the best free to play games out there. The questing part of the game was far better than pay to plays like EVE and WoW.

<Takes seat in circle between a fat hairy man, with odd smelling BO and a short cross eyed kid>

Hi my name is Steven and I'm a Runescapeholic.

I been clean for about five years, just earned my my next token. But every time I enter a library and see kids, using public resources to play a browser game, I am tempted to reach out and join them.

I guess it all started out with Ultima Online. I had kicked the habit two years prior because I wasn't able to financially support it. I missed that feeling of relief and power, that there was a whole other world out there where I could be someone else and reach out to a community. Then a friend came by and told me about the next high. When he told me there was this whole MMORPG, that you didn't even need to download, and ran on your browser but contained 3D graphics and was completely for free, I thought he was full of shit. We booted up my crappy 512 MHZ PC running Windows '98, and there I got my first fix.

I started getting invited to parties, whether they be LAN party places or just the public library. But soon, I was dying for a fix. Yeah a Runescape addiction may be a joke to some of you. Some might think Runescape isn't an addiction. Some of you may be thinking pfft...that shit is whack try WoW, Evercrack or Lineage and see how bad you feind. But I was poor, and never ran that circle. So night after night and school day after school day I tried pushing myself to level up just so I could walk for 2 minutes in the wilderness, or survive a bear attack. I would spend night after night burying bones just to boost my prayer level.

One day I took one look in the mirror and realized I had become my father. My eyes were puffy from fatigue, and I was skeletal due to missing meals just to score a level. I locked myself away from the computer. The symptoms of withdrawal were heavy but I ended up staying away from it. All from something that ran on 256 colors. What had I done?

Until my friend who got me addicted told me they created a Runescape 2. He had samples right there and he pulled me back in. Whereas I was overwhelmed by society's wrongs, he had the most powerful crime organization in the game: The Alliance. This guild had sentries spaced evenly in the PVP wilderness, on almost every server on any given time. You could not mine rune or adamite without their blessing, and they were paid a hefty fee by rivals to transport pilgrims. They controlled the rune and adamite. I thought having a powerful friend would do me good, then one day I was following him into the wilderness, when I went away from keyboard.

I returned without any recollection of what had happened, in a spawn point in Lumbridge far away and all my items gone. I guess I didn't know who my friends were, whether I wore the colors on my cape or not.

Later I became known as a mad prophet who loitered Falador in a Catholic's Priest's robes, rambling about the evils of magic and that all should take up a virtuous life of melee fighting and submit to Saradomin as their Lord and Savior. I sold flour I claimed was cocaine, and cybered for gp. I had hit rock bottom.

I deleted my account. It's been four years now. My friend lost control of the guild, and the Alliance tumbled. He eventually got into more hardcore MMOs such as WoW and EVE Online and needs to live with a colonscopy bag because he's too lazy to use the bathroom. Nowadays, I'll stop by the library, and I see kids doing this stuff thinking it's just clean fun. I tell them otherwise, but I get brushed off as some crazy old kook. I just wish there was some crazy old kook to have done the same for me.

They say Runescape is harmless recreational fun, but it's a gateway game to harder Mumorpughers.

Pretty good review, but I really don't think Runescape is even a good f2p MMO on the surface...
I mean there's games out there like Shaiya, Runes of Magic and Perfect World to name a few, that are fully 3D, have a much better community and Shaiya has a better pvp than any other mmorpg out there imo (even p2p ones)
I think Runescape may have been good a few years ago, but f2p mmo's have come a long way.
Still, not a bad review, if a little biased :p

Not a bad review... a little lacking.
I think that RuneScape has excelled beyond imagining, offering a lot for both free and premium members. I played it for a couple of years before the clang of realisation that it was both a waste of time and money.

You never know, I may return.

I played Runescape for a while with my friends, and I found that it was really really boring and stupid, just as you did.
It would be OK if there were more quests, maybe a bigger world, and horses, because horses make everything better.
I found that after I completed every quest, made it to the back of the wilderness, perfected the ancient and secret art of cutting down a tree, it just got to be repititive.
I agree with you on one point, trading was great, because, unlike in other BETTER MMORPGs, such as WoW, if I sold a pair of boots to a vendor, someone else can buy from that vendor, and it gives a sense of... how to put this... economy. And yeah the other players sucked.

From about age nine to twelve I was addicted to RuneScape, and they were some of the most fun times I've had with an online game. However, for whatever reason, as I kept getting a higher level I found myself having less and less money (in-game)...I quit at level 112 or something when I had absolutely no money left, and I would have probably been playing the game the past three years if that didn't happen.

As for the review, you assume WAY too much of the reader, and it's extremely short and lacking information.

This review is lacking in all areas a normal review is.
Furthermore, you missed the point half the things.
Also, your review lacks examples.
1/10 Try harder.
Not only that, but your review is very biased, you take cheap shots at Jagex.
Ah, C'mon.
He did much better than thegodofwar atleast.

He knows Basic Capitalization.
I'd say at the very worst, it's bad.
At the best, it needs improvement.

What? Oh god, barley an improvement.
Seriously, this review is piss poor and he knows it.
It's just horrid in every area.
Keep in mind, the link I posted was somebody's second review.
This may very well be this user's first. And while it isn't very good, he had to start somewhere. Now he (hopefully) knows what to improve on.

So you didn't even play members? That's unfair to leave that out of a review. I had some genuine fun when I was a member on Runescape.

I played RS like 4 years ago-- it's pretty much the king of shitty MMOs. Its only redeeming quality is that you can log in and play in a browser at any computer, which was cool when I was in high school.
