I absolutely love SR 2. GTA IV was good but sometimes it was just so boring and it felt to me like they'd tried to drop some of the humour that made the previous GTA games a blast to play. I guess that's why I like Saint's 2 more than GTA IV.

Vice City I'd have to say, because it has the best combination of ridiculous and childish humour and characters/story but Saints Row 2 was more balls to the wall excellent/ridiculous

Saints Row 2 is just great fun. GTA Vice city i liked too. (And of course GTA 1 & 2 in multiplayer is just awesome). But the whole GANGSTA-hippityhoppity crap i can live without. And i haven't played GTA 4, but i don't really want to. Have only heard mediocre-bad about that. Also i am a PC gamer.

GTA IV sacrificed a lot of what made the earlier iterations fun for the sake of realism and maturity. It is impressive; the city is incredibly well realized, the supporting characters are interesting, the writing is decent, and the protagonist is likeable and sympathetic. But it's nowhere near as satisfying to play as, say, San Andreas...

...Or Saints Row 2, which is pretty much GTA IV's inverse. It's crass and boorish, the protagonist is a dickhead without any redeeming qualities whatsoever, and everything feels kind of like it was designed by a committee of coked-up adolescents. But. It is balls-out fun to play. The gameplay is satisfying, the customization is probably the best out of any game on the market, and there is just so much ridiculous shit you can do in so many insane ways.

It's nuts. It's like the contents of Michael Bay's head collided with the earthly incarnation of some hip-hop Valhalla on the freeway.

GTA 4 have an awesome story, but when the story is finished it just feels like a kick in the balls.
Saints Row (never played 2) Didnt have a very good story, but it was far more fun without the whole "oooh!!! so realistic!!! if it rains you cannot drive cars!!!". And massive road kills were simply more fun, not to forget that you could make your own character and rob stores! (PS: Can you rob stores on Saints 2?)

GTA San Andreas was just wonderful because it had some wilderness. (I played it before I got into the whole "story" thing :p) that game was just fantastic. Not to mention there was actually some decent music on the radio there!

Well first off I hated Saints Row.
I thought it was just a "gay" copy of GTA, Yes it was better but I was a fanboy.

Then GTA IV came out.. I bought it... I hated it.

I then went and bought Saints Row 2.
I was very happy with my purchase.

I had to vote GTA IV, as it's the one I like the most on PC.

Don't get me wrong, Saints Row 2 was *amazing* (This is a clip of my character [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVjW_e3SIVk]), but I was really annoyed by the wealth of unpatched, near game-breaking bugs left in the PC release. If it'd been properly supported post-release (such as giving PC gamers the DLC etc), I think I could easily love it more than I did GTA.

Yeah. If SR2 was properly patched and had content updates, I'd take it over GTA. I loved the customisation, the feel/look of the game, the variety of missions and mini-games. Great game, just a shame it was so bugged.

Hah, I guess I'm a minority here xD
I loved the first GTA and the second one. Then it just went downhill. Although Vice City is nice.
You preferred the top down game? I found it incredibly hard to control, and thought the third person perspective really brought something new to the game. I voted GTA3 but I consider Vice City and San Andreas to be the same game.
