The title says it all! I personally prefer Saint's Row up to this point. I feel that Grand Theft Auto tried to get too realistic and took away what made San Andreas so great (SA was my favorite GTA game by the way). I hope GTA 5 will bring back the fun factor for the franchise, but Saint's Row on the other hand while starting off similar to GTA is now shaping into what looks like a real over-the-top wacky fun kind of experience. So what do you think?

I would say saints row, but after seeing the gta 5 trailer, I sort of feel inclined to say gta

It's a race...SR3 slipped on the customisation and advertising, but have a more solid product.

GTA is re-treading old ground, but looks nicer. Rockstar and Volition have a habit of screwing the PC for the consoles though...

Saints Row actually feel like a game. I turn it on and just screw around like I did back in Vice City. GTA doesnt seem like it wants me to do anything other than the story.

If I want balls-to-the-wall fun and a good laugh or two, I'd play Saint's Row.

If I wanted a serious, dark story, I'd read a novel.

GTA. I didn't know how big of a fan of GTA I was until GTA 5 was announced. I literally jumped out of joy. I wanted to punch the wall from excitement. I never felt that way about any other video game series. Which is weird because I thought I liked Deus Ex the most. I guess I don't. Saints Row is fun, but GTA is godlike. Sure, GTA IV wasn't as fun, but damn I have so many fond memories of GTA 3, VC, SA, LCS and VCS. I could never find a single bad thing about any of those games. I love them to death. And the weird thing is, I love GTA because of the story. Gameplay is a bonus. And seeing another GTA in the work makes me excited like a girl scout who won the cookie selling competition.

There are more than a dozen games like saints row that offer you puerile mindless fun in a city setting. There is only 1 game like GTA with a culturally deep and meaningful experience. RDR and LA Noire are the closest but they're not remotely as deep as GTAIV. If you want GTA to return to the mindless fun crap then you're just being selfish towards those who prefer GTAIV the way it was.

Saints row is closer to twisted metal than gta. GTA is closer to fallout 3 than it is to saints row.

GTA practically invented the genre. Vice City is still one of the best games ever, so I'm inclined to say GTA.

I don't know, from what I saw of GTA5, it looks like a life simulator taking place in LA, and I live in LA. If I want to drive around Hollywood or Santa Monica and hit on chicks, I'll do that in real life. Of course I'm not a real hit man or car thief (maybe?? whahahaha!) but I'd rather play as one in a fantastic setting.

This game won't be the San Andreas it was in GTA:SA, that one took place in the 90s during the gang banger LA riots era. LA is not the same place anymore and neither is GTA for that matter...=/

I don't think their comparable, as one is meant to be a silly over the top sandbox, while the other is a serious story telling in an immersion world.

Saints Row is what GTA should've been IMO. It's like all the people who made the 2D GTA games great went off and founded Volition to make Saints Row. Just the difference in vehicle control alone makes SR2 far superior to, for example, GTA:SA. Then you add back in the madcap violence and humor and well...

I'm hoping they'll release more customization options (including a male Hispanic accent) as DLC. Are you a PC only gamer root?
Yeah, I have the occasional blast on consoles - but I find the joypad really limiting.

I guess I can see that, but why would you need a whole keyboard for a game like Saint's Row? the lack of analog stick would be a deal breaker for me.
Depends what you're used to. I'd have great difficult playing anything but a 'fighter game with stick now. Not enough precision.
